  • Hawaii Holiday

    Hi All,

Brian from Brisbane Australia wanting your advise. We arrive in Honolulu May 2018 on Radiance Of The Seas. This is our first visit to Hawaii and we will be able to stay 4 to 6 weeks.
We can exchange through both II from Accor Vacation Club and RCI through Worldmark South Pacific. We require 1or 2 bedroom with kitchen.
We would love to stay Hilton, Marriot, Disney. All suggestions re what time we should spend on which Islands. Also what other Timeshare Resorts rate highly.

    Thank you in advance,
    Brian.

You need to be more specific in what your preferences are. My wife and I do not like the Big Island ( Hawaii ) but we love Oahu. especially Waikiki. There are others that feel just the opposite. Maybe you should try all the islands as they are different from each other. Wyndham resorts are quite good but not quite as good as the ones you mentioned. To me the location is more important than the resort quality as long as the resort is decent.

Thanks for your reply. We like everything, much travelled, love Vegas, New York, Florida and many other parts of the world.
We are retired and will spend more than 6 weeks if we need to see everything.
Our thoughts where all islands, is one week on each island enough except for Oahu week at beginning and end of holiday.

        Welcome to Timeshare Forums.

It sounds to me that you like big and busy cities so I would recommend staying in Oahu and Waikiki Beach for at least a week. There is a lot to see there too and once you leave Waikiki Beach, the island scenery is beautiful.

If you like the outdoors, hiking and beautiful scenery, I would spend at least two weeks in Kauai too. The Big Island has the volcano that may be active when you arrive. It has very different scenery but well worth seeing and snorkeling and other sports. Some parts of the island always remind us of scenery in Europe plus there is the rain forest too on the Hilo side.

We mostly go to Maui because it has everything except the nightlife of Waikiki Beach and the feel of a busy city on the ocean. It is more casual. We went once to Molokai and felt that time had stood still there. It had to be like Hawaii used to be before the tourists arrived. It was a very special vacation but you have to entertain yourself. You can do Lanai and Molokai easily while staying in Maui and add a few days on. Maui has the rain forest too and waterfalls and we love the upcountry and the Haleakala Crater. Maui is famous for their beaches but the longest beach is in Molokai.

The Big Island has Mauna Kea where there may be snow in the winter and you'll see locals ski down the mountain. Star gazing is very popular there because the nights are so dark on top of Mauna Kea. I can highly recommend it.

There are many smaller independent timeshare resorts too besides the few you mentioned that rate highly and are comfortable in great locations too. All are difficult to get when the schools are out so you need to plan well in advance. You may want to read Trip Advisor or Google ratings of timeshare resorts.

Our favorite time to go to Hawaii is during whale season and that is in January, February and March. February seems to be the best month to go but we have been in January and March. The whales seem to arrive earlier each year so leave earlier too.

        Good luck with planning!

PS. I just read that you are retired so you don't have to worry about the school holidays. May and September seem to be the least busy times in Hawaii but September may be very warm. Early January may also be a quiet time but the rain forest areas will have rain. However, we had lots and lots of rain when we were in Kauai in September two years ago so you never know and it was very hot and humid.
