  • RCI announces the acquisition of DAE

Wyndham issued a press release announcing that RCI has reached an agreement to acquire Dial-an-Exchange. More consolidation ultimately means fewer choices for consumers.. Looks like it still has to be approved by regulators in Australia.

The article says they will continue to operate separately. I wonder if RCI will give any inventory to DAE. I tried using DAE, but they had very little on the east coast, and my week expired before I found anything I could use.

This is why I do not deposit first with the small companies. If I find something on one of the sites, I call them and then give them my week for the exchange. I stick with the free memberships.

Hopefully they will still have the free memberships with the search before you deposit option.

I've never found anything I wanted in DAE USA.
I've only done their rentals which were actually really cheap if you wanted an Orlando last minute gig at Westgate.

Really bad news. The RCI Borg strikes. Competition decreases in exchanging. The RCI mentality will destroy what made DAE great.

I wonder about DAE Europe which is a franchise. Will they also be bought? I would hope that they would spin off under a new name, and keep rolling.

No more DAE deposits until it is clear that DAE Europe will be free of RCI policies and control.

Not renting exchange deposits to the general public is one DAE policy that RCI (Rental Condominiums International) will almost certainly end. Yes, DAE did last minute rentals to members, but that did not corrupt the system like RCI's wide ranging rental policies.

I am giving as much of my business as I can to II.
If it weren't for my RCI points I'd end my RCI relationship all together
and just get the occasional exchange thru the corporate portals.

TPU's are pretty much dead for me with the combine and short
exchange time. Just not worth it anymore unless you want a
last minute rental in Orlando. It's a shame when I can get a
really nice 2 bedroom rental for $250 while the exchange is $240
                plus the TPUs'.

This won't help with the fees but RCI is having a promotion that combines through the end of this month are good for 24 months vs the normal 12.

                    Thanks.
                    I saw that.
I may do it once the hurricane passes is by.
