  • San Luis Bay Inn potential purchase questions

I'm looking at getting a unit at San Luis Bay Inn. As I understand it, both FF and Sunterra have units at the resort. Is that correct? Do I need to worry about who manages the seller's unit? We own another FF property so would prefer that FF is the one so I can keep it all together. Is there anything else I need to consider? Special assessments? Is booking policy 1 year or two years out?

I am unaware that Fairfield has any units at this resort.

San Luis Bay Inn is half RCIM/PSE and half Sunterra.

If you are buying a 1 bed 2 bath Imperial Unit that would be the RCIM side. The Sunterra one bedrooms are 1 bed 1 bath.

The RCIM side also has Presidential 2 bedrooms. I am unaware of 2 bedroom on the Sunterra wing.

If you are a TUG member I have a review posted for SLB Inn and somewhere they posted or linked the floor plans with the different units that I e-mailed them.

JWC is also an owner there and would have even more information.

          It is Fairfield

Actually, I own a unit there and Fairfield now manages the part that used to be RCIM. Not sure whether this is because they're all owned by the same company or what, but as of this year I had to call Fairfield for my reservation. You may make your reservation 13 months out, to the day.

I've owned this for 5 years and there have never been any special assessments during this time.

I'm an RCIM owner of a 1 bedroom Imperial, you might also hear us referred to as former Glenn Ivy Owners.
I also have Sunterra Points and iSLBI's part of the 21 resorts, but never seems to be available via ClubSun WebRes.
Here are some interesting things to think about.
I was trying to get two nights this coming weekend, on short notice. I can usually get a Mini-Suite via RCIM (now Fairfield I guess) at $55 night bonus rate, and often a 1 bedroom at $65 night, but n/a this weekend.
I called ClubSun and of course nothing available, but they transferred me to their rental division which had a 1 bedroom at $249/night... oh an owner, I get a substantial discount to $174/night.
Sorry, for me it's often a place to stay while visiiting family.
But, we usually split our week into 2 or 3 stays, and often get extra rooms for others, and use the resort facilities for family fun.
They did me a good turn last year for my 50th birthday, and we had 50 people, a BBQ rig, a great party location and several rooms for a wonderful weekend! (Maybe that's why I can't get this weekend... naw, they are booked)
If I can answer anything about SLBI, drop me a line.
