My wife and I are going to purchase a wall clock for our son as a wedding gift. We are trying to decide between a Howard Miller or Hermle wall clock. We want it to be heirloom and are trying to keep it under $1,000. We know the Howard Miller is a high quality clock but like the design of the Hermle better. Anyone have an opinion or experience with either clock?

no experience with either.
My family has handed down through 3 or 4 generations some Seth Thomas mantle clocks but that probably doesn't help you in the least.
They also make wall clocks.
