I posted this on another BB (that shall remain nameless) so I thought I would put it here also. I have an idea I want to run by my fellow TS owners and get some feed back. I would like to do something to show support for our troops. This is strictly in the idea stage and I need help as to what problems might arise so please give me all the negative feed back you can.
I want to set up an organization that would accept weeks or points donated by TS owners and in turn arrange a free week stay for a wounded vet and their spouse getting out of the hospital or one that is home for R&R but will be returning to combat. I would not want TS’s donated because of the expense of paying MF’s.. I’m sure there are a lot of owners out there with weeks and points they don’t use. Do you think owners might be willing to donate a week or excess points and still pay their own MF’s?
Here are some of the challenges I can think of that I would need to overcome. Please help me by listing others. I would have to:
1. Create a non profit organization so the donations would be tax deductible.
2. Create a web site to receive donations and list places available.
3. Require some type of proof the person qualified as a vet.
4. Figure out how to work with the exchange companies.
5. Cash donations would be needed to pay exchange fees.
6. How best to advertise it.
7. Do you think the exchange companies would help
Please let me know if you think this is a hair brain idea or if it might work. BE FRANK AND HONEST. Also if there is a lawyer out there that might tell me how much it would cost to set up a non profit, please jump in. Thanks in advance.
