  • Free to good home: SFX bonus week!

We're not going to be able to use this lovely SFX bonus week, expires 12/31/06. Cost to the user (paid to SFX) will be $399, if they find a match for you. I'll transfer it to your SFX account for free free free--I'm just hoping someone here can use it.

As I understand it, you can use the bonus week against anything on SFX's sell-off list. They have some way of doing that, Mark@SFX can explain.

Thanks for giving this bonus week a good home!

You need, generally, a Gold Crown or Five Star in Prime or High season.

www.sfx-resorts.com has the answers to your question re fees, no charge for Gold membership.

Can you join if you don't own a resort they accept? I think you might be able to. Pat, you could ask Mark@SFX if you could set up a free account for the specific purpose of taking this week. I really hope someone can use it!

Wackymother - the best way to do this is, the week remains your week. When you find someone to use it, you would simply inform us of their name, address and tel#, and they would be your Guest.

          Hope this helps...

Thanks for the speedy response, Mark, but I don't want to do it this way. I don't want to be the intermediary for making the requests, for one thing.

Also, if I request a week for someone I don't know well, and a match comes through, then I'm responsible for the $149 exchange fee no matter what. If the other person decides not to take the week, I'm out the $149; if the person agrees to take the match and I tell SFX okay and then they charge the $399 to my credit card, and then if the person disappears, I'm out the $399. Ouch!

I want to give away the opportunity to get a bonus week; I don't want to give away $149 or $399. There's a lot of trust involved the way you suggest. If I just shift it over to another person's account, everybody's happier and I don't have the bookkeeping to attend to.

Thank you for your reply. I will pass this on to a supervisor for further decision. The Bonus Week is credited to you and your account only. It is awarded as part of a larger transaction including your deposit of an exchange week. Accordingly it is my understanding the week is not transferable to anyone else. However you may have someone else use your week as your Guest. This would be no different with your exchange week. The week is yours and may be used by a Guest of your choice. It becomes your Guest using your week.

By detaching your Bonus week and transferring it into another person's account convalutes the integrity of your account and the transaction process.

You would have to go online into your account and place the request on behalf of your guest. If you have any concerns as you mention in your post about the downside of what could happen, then you shouldn't be allowing anyone to use a Bonus Week unless you could trust them to follow the rules and protocols, including their responsibility to pay for an exact match.

I will pass this on for further consideration, but am sure this is the procedure.

Mark, please look back at my July thread about this. I asked...

                Hi, Mark...
Is there any way to give a bonus week away to a friend? I mean, without going through the whole shebang of asking the friend when he would like to travel, getting all the money to pay for the bonus week upfront from the friend, putting in the request, waiting for the request to come through, confirming with the friend that the week is okay, la la la.

If the friend is an SFX member, would it be possible to just transfer the bonus week over from my account to his account?

                ---------------------------------

                And you said:

                Hi Wacky - Yes.

Just simply advise us the name of the person and their SFX account number, and we can transfer the bonus week from your account to theirs.

                ----------------------------------

And then later in the same thread, this same question came up, and you said:

You can transfer it to another account, but is a simpler process to leave it in your account and give us the name of the guest you want to send in your place.

The reason it is simpler, is because the bonus week is part of a transaction that is the result of a qualified week being deposited. All these parts are connected. Canceling the bonus week from your account, then moving it to another account that didn't qualify for that specific bonus week in the first place involves more processing time.... and this is why it makes more sense to simply give us your guests name. For you the end result is the same.

                -----------------------------

And then there was more discussion, but you had left it that yes, the bonus week could be shifted to another person's account. Is that not right?

                Thanks!

                Best,

                Wacky

Don't know if this is proper form, but what deposit (specifically) got the bonus week? That could have bearing as to its marketability. I'm working on some stuff right now and do have a SFX account. PM me if interested. If it's something which will work for me, I'd be happy to work out a mutually beneficial transaction.

Editorially, I don't think you're in "trouble". Mark is just trying to work an equitable solution within company policy. BTW, I tend to agree with him, regarding a "transfer", given what I know of how they work such matters.
