Bought Bluegreen points yesterday from a sales at one of their resorts. Very excited about the program. I paid $14k for 8000 pts annually. Did i overpay?

Also I was advised that if i bought yesterday I would receive unlimited bonus time days AND intro/annual enrollment into RCI. After getting home i'm finding out RCI is standard and included. Is this correct?

        Yes, You Overpaid

To answer your initial question, Yes, you did overpay.

You should look at the recission clause to your contract, follow instructions and rescind as soon as possible.

I paid about $3000 for 9000 Bluegreen points on E-Bay. Those deals are out there regularly.

        Rescind, rescind, rescind!!!!!!

Yes, you overpaid and yes, they were lying to you. Bonus time is always unlimited (subject to availability), and your BG membership dues pay your RCI membership.

It is a good program and many of us bought first from the developer. You can rescind and buy resale or keep what you bought and add more points later at resale prices.

There's also a Yahoo Group for Bluegreen.

Im going to rescind however my wife isn't happy with the idea. She thinks she wont get to go on vacation at one of their nice resorts! I told her I would get points from another source for a fraction of the cost. She doesn't seem to happy with that though.

One question I do have is why is developer points costing more then resale? I know that all points originated at one time from developer pricing however why such the big discounts?

              Yeah

I'm relatively new at this also. Last Thanksgiving I went on a timeshare tour in South Florida and bought for $19,000.
Came back home found out I paid too much rescinded and bought the same property for about $1000. Savings of $18,000.

I believe people get so upset that they spent so much they just get ruined to the whole idea and get rid of some timeshares for next to nothing.

Developer prices are super inflated due to getting people in to the place and pitching the sales.

Tell your spouse that for the same money you were going to spend you'll get alot more by buying resale.

Bluegreen is a nice resort grouping but there are Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, and Starwood you might want to investigate.

Take your time. I know the deals you see on E-bay will seem unbelievable. Almost a year later from my start and there are still tons and tons of good deals.

I know I wanted to buy so I won't tell you not to. Just take a few weeks to think about what you want and check out these bulletin boards for past advice that will save you money and headaches.

              Good luck and Happy Timesharing!

It's simple. The only method of selling timeshares that has ever produced good results on a large scale has been the lure them in and close them hard strategy currently utilized by 99.9% of timeshare resort developers.

The breakdown of cost for a resort developer is roughly as follows:

For every dollar of sales, it generates roughly the following:

                1) Cost of the timeshare: Roughly $.20-.25
                2) Cost of sales and marketing: Roughly $.50
                3) G&A: Roughly $.10
                4) Net profit: Roughly $.15-.20

Notice how proportionately high the sales and marketing costs are. Someone has to pay for all the free gifts and high sales commissions they have to pay the salesman.

                  VV,

I have another one of those Shenandoah Crossing Blended UDIs available. I think if you pick it up, you may be close to being the new UDI king. Let me know if you are interested.
