  • Any info on selling?

I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience selling their timeshare that could share with me. My husband and I bought a float week Avalon reef Cancun golf package that we never used -we paid for the golden Interval membership and also never used. Now my huband is out of a job adn we need to sell it. Any ideas how? I went on google and serach "sell timeshare"" and had so many options I didn't know where to start... Also, looks like some sites make you pay for a fee just to add it to their site... Is it true?
    Anyways I'd love some info,
    thanks

Please, please, please read this article: How to Sell Your Timeshare
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

    “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Please read the link Steve provides.

You need to adjust your expectations. Because it is very hard to establish a timeshare market, most of the TS resell market is buyer’s market. Expect you may need to put the “for sell” advertisement for a while unless you are willing to take any offer. So you may need to rent out the unit in the meantime. Read How to rent Your Timeshare also.

If you still has loan with it, you may want to neg. with the developer to deed back the TS and may expect a loss but have them forgive the loan. But I have no idea how that process will go.

As the article Steve has linked suggests, selling your timeshare isn't too difficult, as long as you price it right and avoid getting scammed. Find a buyer, negotiate a price and then turn everything over to a low-cost timeshare closing company. That's about all there is to it. Each step is relatively easy, if you are sincere about selling.

And as Jya-Ning suggests, you'll need to adjust your expectations. There is no way you can sell your timeshare for anything close to what you paid for it. Timeshares are more like cars than real estate. Most of them sell on the resale market for 20%-40% of original cost; sometimes even less!

From what I have seen, Avalon Resorts do not sell very well- that is they don't get much of a price. Of course an up-front fee reseller will tell you he can get you the moon and has several prospective buyers, but these are just lies to seperate you from your money.
