I recently took over a timeshare that I owned along with my parents. My dad just past away (well, in January) and I am trying to find out how to rent the timeshare that is for week 6 (in Kissimmee in Westgate). I am in the process of signing with Timeshare Registry International, but now think that it may not be good. How do I know if this is good? What do I look for and should "registering" with them cost me almost $1000? Sorry to be so new and all, but I thought this may be a great place to learn about all this. Thank you in advance for any assistance!

A good rule is never to pay in advance for rental or sales service for timeshares. Once they have your money what incentive is there to perform ? Renting in Orlando could certainly be a challenge as there are about 100 resorts in the area and many of them are quite large.

Please do not pay to buy, Sell , Or Rent your timeshare. it is a Scam they will take your money and you will never get it rented through them. If you were to rent it out your self you would be lucky to break out even with your maintenance fees give or take a hundred. Your week 6 falls on Presidents week once in a while. That week can rent out for a nice profit.Timeshareforums Shirts and Mugs on sale now! http://www.cafepress.com/ts4ms

Try read this thread "How to rent your timeshare"
You can post your rent on www.craigslist.org and use FL, Orlando besides the links provided by 4ARedOctober. Since it is week #6, you probably should try to post it. Look at these site find your property, and how much other charge. Then you can make a reasonable estimate how much you should charge.
Pull some pictures and description from the property site and those rent site, and try to create something that you can sell to yourself.
When you receive a offer (or counter offer), make sure you don't accpt a check that overpaid and ask you to pay them back. With the time, I will assume you will try to get all the money at once.
When you ready, ask for a rental agreement sample here, make whatever adjustment you see fit, then have your renter and you sign that.
call resort to make arrangement for the guest after you have the money, give your guest the confirmation info.
You actually has better chance to rent it out yourself then go though any upfront fee agent.

I am so glad you read this first before spending your money. Once you have signed up, you will most likely never hear from them again. We know, because we fell for it once but for not such a large amount.
Check the links that John posted. RedWeek seems to have done very well for many people here because you have serious renters as they have to pay money to look at the ads and then to be able to contact the owners so you won't get all the scam email offers. Be very aware of that too. They offer you more money than you are asking but then they want you to send a check to someone else and the check they send you is a bogus check. Be very careful.
