I guess my answer has to be it depends. We went to Montana to go to Glacier Park so we knew we wanted to stay somewhere near but also wanted to be there when it wasn't covered with snow and the roads were open. On the other side my wife and I like to go away in November but the place depends on where we can get, as long as it is someplace warm.

      KIDS IN SCHOOL

We have to settle for when.

But we are getting better where's by direct exchange rather than RCI or II.

Since I work in a school, I'm limited to the most popular, expensive, crowded times of the year. But I'm pretty particular about where we go also.

Mostly, where, but when does come into the equation, too. I like to hit Europe in early November and late March, when the weather is decent and airfairs good, for example. But for difficult exchanges, I will often take them whenever I can get them. I once gave a 2BR holiday red week on the OBX for a 1BR blue week in Europe that way, but got into a limited availibility resort in an area with no other t/s opinions for a week that worked out extremely well for my schedule even if it was blue.

Ditto on kids in school. Always Spring break, Fall break and an early Summer trip. Sometimes a Christmas trip, but I had to cancel one Christmas week this year when DS12 got a job. It's beginning to look like I might be alone or nearly alone on the other week in Captiva, but I'm not giving it up!

Two or three family members are expressing concern about being available for our British Isles trip next June. Hope that one doesn't fall through on me.

We'll be on Captiva 12/15 - 12/22. May have to arrive a day or two late as the schedule is getting more than a bit complicated.

Were to have been at Vistana in Orlando 12/22 - 12/29, but I cancelled it.
