There are standard resorts, however, in a great number of desirable places.
I would much rather be in a standard resort in a great location than a GC in the boondocks.
The problem with these sites is that the exchange company is engaging in cutthroat competition with their resort affiliates to the detrimenet of the affiliated resorts members. When they regularly make timeshares availible for substantially less than m/f plus exchange fee plus exchange company membership fee, they encourage members to deed back their weeks to their HOA and just rent. Resorts are seeing people start to do that as a result of these programs. So far it is confined to the deep offseason owners, but as they jump ship, the other owners have to pick up the slack, and rising m/f's may result in even more bailouts.
RCI is kicking the financial props out from under resorts with their rental programs. Any resort with its eyes open ought to be doing all it can to encourage use of other exchange companies that don't engage in such cutthroat competition against their own affiliates.
