Well, they didn't even need to show the credit card to the resort. My sister and I look almost just alike, so I could have even given her my driver's license, but that would just have been overkill. Most resorts do not care the slightest bit about that stupid Guest Certificate. II and RCI just want to make some extra bucks, that is all.

As far as my disdain with people renting weeks they get with exchanges, I am against it when it hurts my rentals. Seriously, though, I think it is unfair to owners that exchangers grab weeks and rent them on redweek for less than our maintenance fees. It devalues what I own. If this was legal, everyone would grab weeks and rent them out and exchange companies would only have crappy stuff left for those who are neither internet savvy, nor educated in timeshares. Many, many people would be unhappy with their timeshares and would consequently create lots more business for Timeshare Relief. Perhaps that does not bother you, but it does chafe my backside.

I know for a fact that DVC owners are absolutely disgusted with rentals by exchangers. If you can rent an entire week at Old Key West in a one bedroom for $900 on redweek, why would you ever rent points at $11.00 each (for the huge number needed) from a member?

Renting exchanges definitely benefits the ones who spend time searching for the best stuff, but it is not fair to the rest of us. I could do it, I see lots of great weeks online, all the time, but my conscience is my guide and it knows better. Giving my sister my credit card did not bother my conscience at all, by the way.

Well, Spence, you have figured out how to make the most of your ownership and you make plenty from what you own. I don't get why you would be uncomfortable with my position on anything. You figured out the system, so did I. My only defense against exchangers renting weeks at MY resorts is my ability to reserve New Year's and Christmas weeks. Those do not come up for exchange very often, so at least I have that in my favor.
I wasn't on any hook. It's obvious to me that you don't understand, you think that RCI rules for renting exchanges are good so you're on board with that but you think that RCI rules for Guest Certificates are bad so you break them. Because you look alike, that makes it OK? It makes me wonder more and more about your previous posts.

I took out my entire post because it was off topic.

Spence has been off topic as well, plus he has been insulting to boot. I am tired of the constant criticisms of everything I say. My post was to explain, but what does it matter if I just get another round of the same.

I'm not judging, just wanted to point out that I wanted the thread to stay on topic and not get sidetracked. You were both contributing but it looked like it was going somewhere other than orginally intended.

              Through family

We bought our first timeshare from my inlaws. We had stayed with them at a couple of resorts in the west and we could not believe that they could get such nice lodging for so little money.
