  • Top 20?

An acquaintance that recently purchased from a developer assure me that his resort was in RCI's international top 10 resorts. I also came across an old post on this board that referred to "a top 20 resort world wide". I guess my question is - Do either RCI or II publish a list of their top 10 or 20 resorts??

I would doubt that either exchange company does this...what resort did your friend buy into? Tuggers are pretty smart about these things and could give you an idea about its worth..

        Top 10 for what?
        Largest, most exchanges?

As far as I know there is no published top 10 for any criteria published by RCI.

Sounds like sale speech to me.

I've stayed at number 1, 3 5 and 9 on this list. I would say that The Bluegreen Wilderness Club at Big Cedar and the Hyatt Coconut Plantation are better than all 4 of those resorts. But, that's just my personal preference.

He says that the list was published in a recent issue of RCI's magazine. I very respectfully suggested that I would love to see it, as I wanted to know what properties qualified. I'll let you know when he gets back to me! His property is in Kelowna, BC and trades with RCI but is associated with Fairmont Properties. I have just found that it is Lake Okanagan Resort. Anyone know anything about it?
            Thanks!

Hi, I just went to the TUG Reviews (thanks BTW as I had my password wrong and have that sorted now) and Lake Okanagan has a rating (over a year old) of 6.72 (not so good) and it is a Silver Crown with RCI NOT a Gold Crown. Wonder how this could possibly be in the top 10?

These things are all highly subjective.

I think it's quite possible I could stay in a Tug-Rated 5 and be quite happy simply because my priorities are, well, MY priorities. So much of what I don't care about, others hold dear and vice versa.

Top 20, top 10, top whatever the crap doesn't hold any sway with me, especially when the judging criteria aren't listed and evenly applied.

I would have to agree. By way of example, most of the TUG 10 are very large resorts with a lot of amenities/activities (required for a high rating). Over time we have learned that we prefer smaller places (and would not return to the Royals), and never participate in the activities. We do like some amenities though

I agree with several of you. The ratings are subjective, depending on what trips your trigger. I usually look at the top rated resorts first, but read the reviews to see why the person gave a particular rating to see if the things they like are things I care about. Main thing I want is clean, relatively quiet, good service, & a pool.

Based on your criteria, TUG ratings would put plenty of places in the 7s. That's why I like our new system here better. Two examples come immediately to mind that illustrate this point: HGVC South Beach (7.5 on TUG), and Cedarbrook at Killington (7 on TUG). Both would meet your listed criteria, and I found them to be among my favorite exchanges; perhaps b/c I was so pleasantly surprised! Come to think of it, I better get my reviews in for them here...

To the OP, sorry I am getting

I'm always researching to find what I hope is a good vacation resort. I didn't know we had a rating system here in TS4M. Can someone guide me to it? BTW, HGVC SB doesn't have a pool. Thanks

The system is brand spanking new, Ken worked really hard on it with help and input from members here. To see the format, click on Reviews Database in the Website Navigation drop down menu (upper left). To add a review, go to the Resorts Database, find the resort you wish to review, and then click on 'review this resort' (I think it's on the left).
