I was looking on TUG earlier today and saw a timeshare, same type of red week (week 1), same resort, EOY, for $3995 ...paid 3 times that "asking price" for no reason. ....but if the trading power isn't good enough then forget it.

I'm still researching and trying to figure out a good vacation for this year. We have a free 2 day cruise from ft. lauderdale to the bahamas as a prize for going to the presentation. I'm looking to stretch out that vacation to a full week at least. So either we'll stay somewhere in southern florida or fly somewhere else (we'd still save at least 1 flight).
Take your time. Week 1 is the worst trading power week in a resort that does not trade well at all.

You should spend about 6 months asking questions and finding out which timeshare vehicle will work best for you. Weeks, Points, BlueGreen, Marriott. You have a lot of research to do and those "DEALS" will still be out there.

I recall vividly my very first recission. It was after purchasing my first timeshare (actually 2) from the developer in Hawaii. It was only 2 days after purchasing that I found TUG and Redweek convincing me that I needed to cancel the purchases immediately.

I wanted to walk the recission letter right over to the resort. But, I didn't have to do it. I just went to the local post office where the PO Box was located and had them deliver it that day. Boy, was I paranoid that they wouldn't accept my cancellation.

I have since learned that this recission language is the primary legal barrier that resort developers have in protecting themselves against more lawsuits than they experience today and keeping the State Real Estate Commissions off their backs. So, resort developers tend to be very accommodative of recission letters. At least that is what I found.
