No wonder that the timeshare developers are building timeshares in these areas.

PS. I wonder if I should delete all the links as that is blatant advertising for Yahoo? Timeshare stays would be better, don't you think?

How did they miss the beaches?

Am I surprised there is not a single "cold" US location, except one of the greatest city's in the world - New York, on the list? 5 of 10 in Florida. Could it be that travelers prefer areas that tend to be warmer and feature attractions that can be used year round? No one's ever said that before! Not a single highly seasonal beach on the list either. Maybe Yahoo got it wrong? Those darn places that developers keep eying simply because people like to travel there regularly. What are they thinking?

These are based on the travel search using Yahoo FareChase.

John, I don't know how they missed the beaches? My DH's home page is Yahoo and I happened to see this so copied and pasted the information.

I went back there now but Yahoo has already changed their home page again so it is no longer there. I just happened to see that they listed Las Vegas and Florida and I know that most developers keep on building there which is not good for making exchanges. These developers do not care about that because they develop timeshare resorts and once you have bought, you are on your own. JMHO.

          Is this what you see?

Yahoo's new page has a lot of interesting features articles. Unfortuantely, once it been push out, it is very hard to find it back.

Yes, Jya-Ning, that's it but it only showed a one-liner headline and that's pretty well what I copied plus the links.

The domestic portion is very much at odds with RCI's surveys of its own members as to prefered destinations.

The international portion is very much at odds with the statistics compiled by organizations that are involved in international travel, which I have posted on these boards in the past.

I suspect that comes from the very one dimensional nature of the data source for this list.

Of the European list, many of the cities listed are international gateways and not necessarily final destinations. Frankfurt, Germany, the major international gateway in that country for example, may be itself a business travel destination, but the largely historically insensitive rebuilding from the obliteration of WWII means that it is NOT a tourism destination.

And, as to the international list, I do WISH that developers were rapidly building more timeshares in many of those places, but unfortunately, they are NOT. London, Paris, and Rome could do with more timeshares, although I don't know about Frankfurt or Manilla.

You are right that they are mainly major gateways. I know that Las Vegas is not and I am not sure if Orlando is or not but that's where the resorts keep on building. Cancun seems to have a lot of timeshare resorts too and also in Puerto Vallarta. They may have enough already.

It would be very nice if more timeshares were built in the cities of Europe.

Where Are Travelers Heading In 2007?

By Katherine Tom, Senior Editor, Yahoo! Travel
                  December 20, 2006
Curious where travelers are headed in the coming year? We took a look at the most popular searches on Yahoo! FareChase to see which cities folks are flocking to in 2007. On the domestic list, perennial travel favorite Las Vegas shows no signs of ceding the top spot, while sunny Florida dominates the rest of the list, with five out of the top 10 searches.

We did note a few surprises on the international list, including the appearance of Frankfurt and Manila in the top 5. Visitors rave about Frankfurt's shopping and architecture, while Manila attracts budget travelers looking for beaches and nightlife. Of course, more traditional travel destinations like Paris and Rome made the list as well, placing at 7th and 8th respectively.
and Yahoo! FareChase is Yahoo's travel site that provide search for airline ticke, hotel.
