  • Hawaii "08"

Hello, this a continuing thread for me as I need as much advice as you can give me.As my first thread stated I'm taking my wife back to hawaii in 08.We were married on the big island, this will be our 10th anniversary. We would like to go to kauai and maui.I am a shell owner not a shell points owner.my cotract says I have preferred status with rci and other shell resorts ?????? We will be flying out of Dayton Ohio.I think my wife wants to go near poipu area on kauai (sun and heat worshipper) I would like to go to the more lush and green part of maui. Any and all help will be most appreciated.Air lines, resorts, car rental etc. thank you all, jim

I don't think Shell has resorts on Maui. They have a great presence on Big Island, at Kona Coast and Mauna Loa, both very nice resorts. I love the Big Island...

On Kauai, they have the Kauai Coast at the Beachboy, it is in Kapaa, about 35-40 minutes from Poipu (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Many people like the location because it is central to both Poipu and Princeville. It is a tough trade without a Shell week.

It is not too early to try to swing an exchange to Maui, but you are going in prime time, and if you want an easier exchange you'd be better off with Shell. But you can place an ongoing request with RCI for Maui and Kauai for your dates, and see what comes up. The Sunterra resort in Poipu looks beautiful and is highly rated. The Sunterra on Maui is great, I stayed there and was very pleased. If you get a match with RCI, the week will be put on hold and you can either confirm or release it (if you place the request online... if you call, it works differently, and I think you're better off learning to use the RCI website and managing your requests yourself, as many of us have had very bad luck/experiences with RCI guides....)

If you placed the request online, they may not call. If you get a match, it will be held online in your account, so you should check in every day or two; I'm not sure how long they are on hold before they release

Spoke to rci today! My search has been in for several weeks now. They told me that since my search was input so late that I'm way down on the list.Even though I'm trading 2 hawaii weeks for 2 hawaii weeks. Also I'm a sheel deeded week owner which is suppose to carry some weight with other shell resorts,or is this just fictional. All help on airline Ideas, hawaii car rentals and resorts appreciated-kauai-maui Thanx, jim
