  • Bidshare buyer woes!

I had a Bidshares auction for many months for the sale of one of my timeshares. Two weeks ago the auction ended with a bid that met reserve.
I first listed this timeshare for sale last year with with the 2006 mtn fee price listed, but stated in the description that usage would start in 2007 with buyer paying 2007 mtn fees.
The winner bid, just meeting the reserve price and emailed that he would be on a cruise starting the day the auction closed and would arrange payment when he returned one week later.
After he returned and I finally had contact with him, he questioned if I were a real estate agent? After I said no, he questioned the difference in mtn fee which was $41 higher for 2007. Then he expressed distrust with sending me the money directly. I have answered all his questions and tried to reasure him that I am trustworthy and he will get the timeshare.
This bidder asked no questions before placing his bid.
Then he said he wanted to see the resort and would go to the Resort on Saturday.
Now he says he went to the resort yesterday and it is more run down than expected but he still wants to buy it, but now (2wks later) thinks I should get $42 less for the mtn fee reimbursement because I listed it with the 2006 mtn price.

I am trying to be patient with this buyer but have just about had it with him! However, I am not going to compromise on the mtn fees. He is getting a good price on a good week, but I think he just does not have timeshare experience so I am giving him the benefit of the doubt. He said he did buy one timeshare on ebay through a major reseller previously.

    Any suggestions or comments?

    I wouldn't lose a deal for $42 ... even though I agree with you.

And if he is worried about payment, let him use a closing company that will hold the money in escrow - if he is as flakey as he seems, I would want the protection for MYSELF so that he doesn't back out.

I had an expirence somewhat like yours with trying to sell my Durban Sands weeks. The buyer (South African) and supposedly a doctor really put me through the hoops. We got so far as to my needing her idenity card (passport???) to submit to the resort for closing. The resort was to hold the funds until everything shook out., and the identity card was to go directly to the resort, not tom me and the seller. Well, lo and behold the dd disappeared in to the sunset and I still have the weeks.

If you can unloiad the unit less the $42 it's still worth it. Heck if someone would take my DS weeks I'd think about throwing in the current fee to make them disappear.

You all are probably right, however, I already told him I will not compromise. This guy is very difficult to deal with. When I send him an email, he responds with an entirely different issues never addressing what was in the email. He seems to email what he thinks and assumes but never really asks about.
I am hoping I will find another buyer.

That won't be necessary... rather than compromise on the mtn amount, I offered to sell it to him with usage starting in 2008, I will keep the 2007 week and rent it out.
He apparently accepted that offer and has sent payment via paypal.
If you would like to know the details pm me.
