    E-Bay Safety Tips

After months of study and learning about
eBAY - Square Trade - Pal Pal and Andale

I have discovered there is so much more to
learn once you are doing the buying & selling

The most important advice I can offer is
Once you decide to buy or sell on eBay

BE CAREFUL in what you say and do online/phone

Do Not Reply to emails that ask you to update your
personal information and/or credit card information
Do Not Click on links that take you to websites
    that are look alike sites

Always go directly to the website
by typing in the website address

Always check with eBay - Square Trade
Pay Pal and Andale first to be certain
that the emails you received are Real.

I have advertised a few weeks on eBay
and have discovered a whole new world

I have had some really good experiences
    with my Buyers and Sellers

Just wanted to say if you buy - sell - rent
using eBay or any other (Timeshare) Websites

    Be Careful!

I bought a HGVC managed property with 3400 points for <$1000, including closing costs. It took about 6 months to complete the deal. The final chapter was when I called about the deed, and they said "It's in your file. I wonder why someone didn't mail it to you?" I got it 3 days later.

          Define success.

I buy some from eBay, never using eBay to sell or rent. I am pretty sure I am not a good success in eBay. DW is much better. I realize by looking at her bidding that if you figure out how much you want to pay, go in at the last second that you can put in the bid (which depends on your computer and internet connection speed) to put your first bid is a better way for seller. You want to get in at a low traffic time. The reason is with low traffic time, the bidder is less, and sometimes, a few bidders has no idea about something, and they will wait till someone start bidding then they suddenly think the whole stuff is O.K. now and try to beat the 1st bidder. And they never know what they like to put. By put the bid at the very possible last sec, you can avoid any of these, and reduce any chance someone will just try to test your limit.

I also realize that some of the TS seller does not plan for success bring the highest possible bidder. They just try to get rid of it. Sometimes they just put a 5 to 6 day auction.

Most of the time, I found out the ad has error info.

I usually like to find out as much as info about the resort before I bid, so if I found a resort, I try to look at all other sale site especially those need to put in the MF to check the MF. I also found out local real estate site usually is more hones on that front. Twice I found out a resort will face big SA and nothing mentioned in the AD.

I also like call the resort management team to verify some info regarding the unit before hand. I give up on one because there is none answer the phone for over 2 hrs.

Then I decide the value. My value is based on the avail. cash I have, the possible value I believe the eBay will create, and how desire I want that location/time. The more I can think how to use that TS or figure out who I know will want that TS if I for some unknow reason can not use it, the better. eBay TS usually sell lowest after summer and before the next year. Although most of the auction will no longer require the MF for that year. On the other hand, start from next year, most will ask for the MF for that year, yet, if it is point or floating system, it is already late for the best week. To bid, it is best to look start from fall to winter, to sell, it is best to start on Spring to Summer.

I like to know where the inventory come from, who I bid against. It usually not that hard to figure out.

After I won (which does not happen too often), I will try to get the contract number, call the resort to verify something I think is important but the resort will not answer until I have the contract number (MF current or not).

          Then I pay.

Then I contact the closing company (by the way, try to dea with one that use closing company unless you can verify their source (like HOA forclosure)) once per week. When they done the deed, I start to call the resort using the old contract number to verify if they get the transfer paper or not, and if they got, is there an issue that I maybe able to solve immediately.
