  • New timeshare in Orlando! Why do we need another one?????

I was checking Consolidated Resorts' website today, simply to see if my maintenance fee dues are posted for payment, and they just opened a new resort of 3 and 4 bedroom, two-story townhome timeshares.

The resort is called Villas at Regal Palms. The pictures look okay, but I wonder if this is new or if they bought out an older resort or part of one. Does anyone know? The pictures don't really look familiar to me, but I just haven't heard of this before, and all of a sudden a new resort.

I'm curious about your question "why do we need another one?" Do you mean in your resort's chain, or do you mean in Orlando in general?

Do we need another Orlando timeshare, was my question.

Maybe 3 weeks out of the year.

Yeah, like Christmas, New Year's week and Easter!

Even July 4th is easy to get a Five Star or Gold Crown.

Is anyone aware of any other new ones? I noticed Lake Marion just started to show up on II occasionally, plus Floridays. RCI has a few new oddball places, including some houses with the word Universal in the name. Some of those have 5 bedrooms.

I still haven't gotten a Fairfield Bonnet Creek. We traded our ski week for a Vistana Villages for the week before next Christmas.

The more there is the better. I'd love to try out a new timeshare in Orlando.

Timeshares are like salad dressings, you can never have enough choice when going to a restaurant.

              Exactly.

I don't check Orlando all the time. I have yet to see Bonnet Creek when I do look though. I'd like to one day try one of the Houses at Summer Bay.

Too many places left on my wishlist to even think about Orlando at the moment.

I know, I know! The more, the better for exchanging. If all of the resorts put in a one-in-twenty rule, we would still have dozens to choose from every year! There are 52 resorts that show up in II on a daily basis and the same on RCI, although there are repeats.

Consolidated doesn't do that well with their resorts and this one doesn't look all that special. I just wondered if others recognized the place. I think they may have bought an apartment complex and refurbished it. This is such sudden news. I haven't seen availability on Interval yet. They probably just have the models done for now. We will soon see! No way would they let US go on a timeshare tour, even though they are inviting owners. WE are resale buyers of Gardens at West Maui and are lower than the lowest reptile on the island, according to the salespeople at Sands of Kahana. They would never let us stay three nights (is it four?) and give us Universal tickets! Cracks me up. The maintenance fees ought to be funny too.

It's just a matter of time. When all the buildings are completed, there will inevitably be too much supply to be used only by Fairfield FSP owners.

I'd have to rank it as the best non-Disney resort given it's location, service, amenities and unit quality.

This is one of the former Fairfield resorts that is worthy of the Wyndham hotel brand.

I am excited because we are staying in a 2br at Bonnet Creek in December. Just for 2 nights after the Disney Cruise, but cool nonetheless. Could have easily had the whole week, but the kids have to get back to school. Course we are going off season and we are FF owners.

                    Lazy River here we come!

They need some more around Universal, IMO. Along Sand Lake would be a good place to convert or build a new one.

I saw somewhere here on the net that Orlando was one of the worst places to purchase a timeshare. The poster did not explain. Why would that be?
                        Help me out.

                          We can do it cheaper!

I would personally never buy a timeshare in Orlando because our maintenance fees are $440 with our RCI resort and we can trade into Orlando any time of year, in the best Orlando has to offer, for that cost + trading fee of $164. This is much less than maintenance fees in Orlando.

Last-minute exchanges are easy to get for Orlando with any trader, including the bluest week, plus Last Call is available much of the year for a song--much less than even our maintenance fees.

Our blue week has maintenance fees of $416, reduced because it is a blue week, and I pulled a three-bedroom Hilton at Seaworld for 9/23. Sure, that is the off-season, but you can buy a blue week for $1.00 on ebay, with low maintenance fees.

I would also hate to be stuck in one resort, year after year, in Orlando. We have stayed in dozens of them. We love the Marriotts, Hiltons, Summer Bay, Vacation Village at Parkway, Cypress Pointe and Grandevillas, and many others. I love a variety and Orlando has it.

Perhaps because there is no program to "Adopt-A-Timeshare Weasel" like you have for greyhounds Greyhound Rescue and Adoption- Adopt a Greyhound Near You

As existing TS's are sold out you have to send them somewhere.

Does anyone have the total number of timeshares now in the Orlando area ?
Isn't Westgate planning or building another resort on or near Sand Lake ?
