Deposit question

I just purchased a floating week at Ocean Club at Smuggler's Beach on Cape Cod. I received my 'welcome' letter from the resort today

I have week 19 check-in date of May 11, 2007 that I could use but don't really want to. I have it posted for rent on a few sites with no nibbles but I wanted to know my deposit options with RCI.
As I recall, they are not so good at such short notice.
TPI won't guarentee a deposit less then 70 days before check-in.
II limits exchange time if a week is deposited less then 60 days before check-in.

What do you think??????

The only thing they had left was the last week of my season - week 43......

Pat....When I deposited my week with II later than 60 days prior to check-in, they would only allow me to see flexchange exchanges. The good news is that they didn't put any other restrictions on it. I see 2 & 3 bdrms at all the top resorts.

Otherwise, I think that I would take week 43. How does week 43 compare to week 19? Would there be that much difference in trading power?

I'd start by asking TPI if they would take the week 43....

If that's no good, I'd then look at the II demand index to see if there's a big difference b/t week 43 and the week you have reserved.

eta: Pat, will the resort allow you to carry the week over to next year for a fee? One of mine does that, it's a nice feature...

call RCI

You can try calling RCI to see if they can give you any guidance. When I bought my first timeshare, I got the papers the end of June and I asked for a week when the kids were still out of school (my resort is in Kissimmee). They gave me a late August week. I deposited with RCI and I was able to get a week in Maui with that one! You may be happy to see what it might trade for.
