Anyone know which exchange company Diamond are using?
Sunterra use II but the agreement is due to come to an end soon, so just wondering if things may change in that respect.

Diamond Resorts International uses I.I. as their exchange company.

The resorts they presently manage are The Suites at Polo Towers and the Villa's at Polo Towers. They can be found on page 210 of the I.I. directory.

Thanks for your response Doug I will see that it gets passed along down the line.
It was a question raised by a member on one of the Sunterra Europe forums

I have been told by a high ranking Sunterra official, who recently left for greener pastures, that Sunterra was not completely happy with the II affiliation. The usual complaints that II talks a great game but doesn't deliver the service. They did not say if they might return to the RCI fold. Now with the new potential owners already in II that may mean they will stay where they are for at least another renewal cycle.

I own a Sunterra and it trades with RCI, not II. I don't know if the individual resorts have been able to pick and chose. It will be interesting to see what happens. However, I've been depositing with SFX, so it doesn't really matter to me.

I would imagine those that now trade with RCI will be able to remain with RCI. DRI seemed to have a pretty close relationship with I.I. At one time, there was an I.I. rep that had an office at Polo Towers. At least they passed that person off as an I.I. rep. Those days are long gone but, my bet is that Stephen Cloobeck, who is a pretty good wheeler/dealer will work something out that is to his best advantage.

For what it is worth, if you bought into Club Sunterra, either by purchasing direct from Sunterra or by converting one or more weeks at a Sunterra resort, you exchange through II.

If you are not in Club Sunterra, you are affiliated with the exchange company that your resort was with at the time that your week was purchased from the developer. Most were with RCI, but some may very well have been with II.

An example is Powhatan Plantation: weeks owners exchange through RCI or one of the independent exchange companies, Club Sunterra owners exchange through II.

I sincerely hope that Diamond (Sunterra) will stay with II, I've always got great exchanges and I like the clarity of knowing exactly how many points it will cost me for a unit - I find RCI (weeks) a lot more hit and miss.

Be the first mini on both sides

Even if they switched back to RCI you'd still know how many points it would take to get your desired trade. It would work the same as it does for II now as they are also dealing in weeks on that end of the equation but points on the Sunterra side.

I heard about a year ago from a now departed high ranking Sunterra official that they were not all that happy with II after they switched. But that certainly doesn't mean another change will be made just that they might think about it. They should affiliate with both and let the owners decide where to use the value.

timeos2, I hope you are right about the points to exchange back into RCI, if Sunterra switch to RCI.

The rumor that was floating in Williamsburg was that Marriott wanted to purchase selected Sunterra resorts in the USA and in Europe.

Sunterra is not particularly happy with II and they weren't particularly happy with RCI (trading for the customer/Club member worked about the same w/RCI as it does now w?II) that's why they took the opportunity to break their contract with RCI during their 2002 BK)

Not to add any substance to a rumor but, DRI does have a working deal with Marriott in Vegas. DRI had the land and the architectural plans for Marriott's Grand Chateau. They have a deal with Marriott called Hard Carbon that allowed Marriott to build and brand what was to be called just the Chateau. Marriott went into a partnership with DRI and now that resort is branded Marriott and renamed the Grand Chateau.

Of course, rumors were that Marriott was going to rebrand Polo Towers as a Marriott, something that Marriott flat denied from the very beggining. I suspect these rumors has their basis in the deal between Marriott and DRI over the Grand Chateau. But, in the end, Marriott has little interest in taking over the management of a resort that might not be up to their standards. While we've stayed at Greensprings Plantation and it is a nice resort, it is not what Marriott would build and I do not believe would fit their product mold.

So, I guess that's the long way of saying I don't believe any word of that rumor.
