  • Anyone heard of "ineedabreak.com"

I just received an email stating:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm wondering if you have availability for your resort for week 36, 37 or 38 in a 2 bed as I have a client willing to pay $900.

    Chris Foster, Owner

    ineedabreak.ca
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
This sure sounds like a lead in to a "my client is owed money in the USA who will send you the total amount, and you return the excess over $900 to his client's account." Anyone heard of them, or had dealings with them?

Could be legit. The website costs $20/year to become a member and you can list your rentals/sales unlimited for that year. I have not heard of the Nigerian scammmers setting up their own website. If they are not asking for money, I might try it.

Let us know if you find out more.

      Likely Legit

I've checked out their website in the past for posting rentals. In fact, I've emailed a few times with Chris Foster about his website. I decided not to list because it was a new website at the time without a lot of traffic. That may have changed in the last 6 months.

        I sent the following response:

I am interested in how you obtained my information. A
"cold call" like this does raise suspicions on my
        part.

There is availability for any of the three weeks. HGVC
Seaworld is normally a Sat. check in, but there is
flexibility. What check in day would your client want?

Also, this is a Gold season with HGVC, requiring 5000
points. I would need to have $XXXX rather than the
        $900 offered.

It will be interesting to see the response, if I even receive one.

I have exchanged several messages with Chris Foster, and I have Googled the company. Everything seems to be legitimate to me, and I am allowing him to proceed. I will update this post when I have more actual knowledge on the transaction.

I firmly believe that indeedabreak is a legitimate operation
Chris responded that his client is unwilling to pay the amount I had requested. If this had been some sort of scam, the extra money requested wouldn't have been a deterrent to initiating the scam proceedings. If you read this Chris, forgive my original suspicions.

              "ineedabreak"

Re; >> I am interested in how you obtained my information. A "cold call" like this does raise suspicions on my part. <<

I am willing to bet that you have an ad (either for sale or for rent) very openly posted somewhere and that your info has been easily obtained in exactly that manner. I place that bet (easy money, as I see it) based upon my own similar experience in being contacted by "ineedabreak".

Fwiw, my own impression after a lengthy email exchange with him is that Chris Foster is legit. I may very well utilize his services myself in the near future to try to sell an unwanted week. Fees are entirely reasonable and he is NOT one of those big upfront fee "resellers" living beneath pond scum....
