Dr. Beach's Surprising 2007 Top 10 List

For the first time, Florida or Hawaii did not top the list. However, to be fair, he retires all national winners from future consideration, so that could be as many as 15 top beaches (depending on when he started retiring winners). So these could be the best 10 after the top 15.

Ocracoke has no timeshare. The closest t/s is Hatteras High on Hatteras Island, at least an hour away including the ferry ride across Hatteras Inlet.

There is another beach on the north end of Ocracoke island that has gotten some noteriety as an unofficial nude beach.

Ocracoke village is also very quaint. It is a good day trip from timeshares farther north on the Outer Banks. Hatteras Lighthouse, which can be climbed is on the way.

I should refine my post to state that Oracoke will be on the definate DAY TRIP list for our week in Kill Devil Hills.

NCDOT Ferry Division: Home

Plan the ferry accordingly as there are long lines especially on the return trip. Nice beach at Ocracoke.

Went to Golden Strand at KDH last year. Great vacation. Make sure you see the Wild Horses in Corolla. Worth a tour in 4wd tour. Rentals often get stuck. We saw plenty stranded. Eat at Joes Crab Shack on rt 12 in KDH or Nags Head.
