To TS4M's, and Congrats, on your first TS purchase.

I don't know too much about The Flagship, but week 34 sounds like a good week, for that area. And, for $1.00 it sounds like you made a good deal. Hopefully, someone with more info on the resort, will chime in.

Have fun on your vacation at Westgate Vacation Villas, and welcome to the world of timesharing.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

      Deminished Ability

I own at Marriott and you'll notice many posts talk about the deminished ability to trade your Marriott week for Marriott Reward Points.

As for the flagship, I do not know if there is deminished services. From what you say thus far, you appear to have the ability to trade freely and that is one of the best reasons to own!

Anyone out there more specifically knowledgeable about the Flagship in Atlantic City, NJ?

AND Welcome to you, Tim, to TS4M's!

An exchange of a $1 purchase for a 2 BR? I'd say you did exceptionally well. Good for you! Welcome.

There is no difference. The deed gets transferred to you and from that point on it's as if you bought it from them. We own resale at flagship and when we were invited for a free weekend from the resort we needed to meet with the timeshare salesman. He wanted to upgrade us and according to their records he thought I paid the original developer price because that's what's listed in their records.

You did very well on your purchase. My week is not as good as yours but I use it for flexexchanges and have done very well.

          Enjoy

Tim you paid $1 for a week 34 floater. You stole it. I think your week will give you summer rights. If it does book your week there and rent it out on your own.

I went on plenty of ts visitsbefore i starting looking at resale.
I'm going there on 7/17 can't wait to see the salesman who was a pain in the ass (worse than usual!)

When you own a deeded property, you own that unit. And you'll be treated by the resort like any other owner, when you are at the resort.

It is all the other things which the developer can throw in which may or may not be included when you buy resale. There are resorts which give significantly less rights to people who buy resale. Sunterra only gives membership in Club Sunterra to buyers who buy from the developer. Marriott and Hyatt only let buyers of a developer weeks trade their unit for hotel reward points, ect.

Unless things have changed this is not correct. I bought 2 weeks resale at Flamingo beach Resort in St. Marteen and they offered to convert to club Sunterra which I declined since my intent was to flip the property. I rented the two weeks out for the first two years and then sold my fixed weeks to my renter. They offered the conversion to me again even after I declined and was offered the conversion when I visited the resort once when I was staying at the Pelican next door to Flamingo.

Per Spence our resident Sunterra expert:

Sunterra does only give membership to Club Sunterra to buyers who buy direct from Sunterra.

BUT, If you own a unit at a resort managed by sunterra, they will offer to convert your current unit to full "CLUB" membership, if you buy a developer week direct from Sunterra.

Sounds like a steal for $1, and it traded well for you, what more can you ask.

I haven't found much difference from purchasing from a developer to purchasing resale, only the $$$$. I wouldn't purchase from a developer again, but do try to utilize the benefits of developer purchasing.

                        Enjoy and welcome to timesharing.
