  • Renting My Timeshare

I am in the process of trying to rent out some booked timeshares. I know that there is Redweek.com and Timeshare Rentals Resales Timeshares for Sale Rent Vacation Time Share to name a couple of places to rent them out.

My questions are more about the contracts with the renters. I see that redweek has "Vacation Escrow Available for Secure Transactions Protect your timeshare rental agreement with escrow service from First American Title."

Is this a good way to go?

Does this cover such things as property damage or is it just to ensure rental payment?

Anyone have any problems in renting out through any of these sites?

Just trying to figure out all the basics before I dive into this?

    Thanks, David

We used First American Title for escrow three different times. I liked using them in that they were a go-between and had a contract, which was basically clear that the renter would lose the 50% deposit, if they backed out. It protected me and kept me from being the bad guy, when renters wanted to cancel. I worked with one person who had to reschedule because she called soon enough for me to change the dates.

Owners don't get the money until 11 days after the rental is over, which was okay with us. It may not be okay for some to wait that long before getting any compensation.

What kind of money are we talking here?

I've been renting out our Newport Coast Marriott intervals for 3 years now with a simple rental agreement and a Paypal option...latest renters just finished up a successful stay a week ago. Rented all the intervals on Redweek and never a problem with the rental or the process. First renter was international (Ireland). The intervals rented in the 1800-2500/wk range.

Perhaps renters figure if I can afford Marriott intervals, I must be trustworthy
