Does anyone have any comments about a reputable resale company. My husband and I are looking to purchase a time share and recently attended a Disney presentation. Our kids are 3 and 4. We really liked Saratoga Springs but wanted to see if we could gather some advice from the vets.

Today is our deadline witht he property of which we decided is not the best way to buy....

    THOUGHTS anyone???

If you really want Saratoga Springs, you should definitely contact Seth Nock. He was very informative when we were thinking of a purchase at Wilderness Lodge Villas. He is a ReMax broker that works directly with timeshares. A Google search will get him pretty easily.

Thanks for the response. We really have no idea about any of it. We like the idea about the Disney points system since you can use 160 points to exchange. We will likely go to Disney every 3 years or so. Are there better options out there???

As far as answering any questions regarding DVC these forums are where I discovered all about the disney vacation club. They know ALL the answers regarding any questions regarding DVC. You will probably read on the disboards that most people do not think that exchanging DVC points is a good value. In other words, the recommendation is that you should buy DVC to use at WDW to get the best value. It is only a recommendation, however, and DVC is probably a very strong trader because so few use it to trade.

Disney exercises its right of first refusal (ROFR) to buy back resale points which are priced low, so in some cases, resale prices may not be much lower than buying direct from Disney. The best resale contract will be one that is "loaded," with banked points from previous years. Closing costs will be higher on a resale versus buying from Disney.

Advantages of buying resale: lower price per point, loaded contract (if you can find one), access to "sold-out" resorts, smaller contract (less than 160) may be available.

Disadvantages: wait to pass ROFR, higher closing costs, wait to get entered into Disney's system.

Advantages of buying direct: almost instantly entered into the system, may get developer or last year's points, can finance or use a credit card (which you sometimes can do on a resale, but there may be a fee), lower closing costs

Disadvantages of buying direct: higher price per point

There are so many resorts in Orlando it may be worth looking at them first. Unless your sold on staying on disney property. I have done both and unless DVC gives you the advantages of earily or late park entry it would not be worth the extra $$

              Disney

This is an older thread but I thought I'd throw this in. We did trade at Interval International into a 2BR week at Saratoga Springs. I only wanted to stay "on property" so my kids can ride the momrail into the park and all that.

I didn't like the sound of the Disney vacations "expiring" in like 2047 or something. So, I'm paying $15,000 for something that expires in 40 years? We have Bluegreen points and you can use them in so many places and exchange them on RCI (included in membership)and II (which costs $80 per year). We go into our Bluegreen points for about $4,000 through their authorized reseller. I like it so much, I may keep adding points. But, for now with little kids we needed something that fit into the budget.

Holiday Group is Horrific and is being protected by a Tug Administrator

I recently posted about a hoorrendous Purchase I made at Holiday Where they Kept my money and they cancelled my contract. I wrote in and like a watch dog the Tug Administartor Is defending Holiday. So i Have been Reviewing Prior Posts made by othe people and any time someone makes a negative remark he stops the thread. I am wondering if he is the owner of Holiday. The other question is why is it to bash other resellers on the TUG Website but if you say Holiday is Bad he intervenes. Just my observation anyone pay attention to this as well.

I've seen you post this issue a couple of times on TUG, a couple of times on the Fairfield_timeshare Yahoo Group, and here twice.

You were given advice on the Fairfield group to take it up directly with the owner of TUG. Apparently, your crusade has no legs. Give a rest.

There have been a few problems with the Holiday Group in the past, but on the whole they are one of the best out there. Of those problems, as far as I know they were all resolved, so your best bet might be to follow up with Holiday. As to interventions elsewhere - it has not been uncommon for some sites and the people in charge to try to curtail negative commentary about their advertisers or friends.

We own a small DVC contract and have loved it. Wouldn't buy it to trade though as to me that's not a good value. Send me a pm if you would like the names of the 3 "big" DVC resellers. We used one of them and would use them again - seemless process. Do a lot of research before jumping into DVC (or any timeshare for that matter). There is no hurry as resale DVC contracts are always available at any resort.
