  • Interval Int'l and Eastern Caribbean

Anyone every been able to put a request in and get to the Eastern Caribbean, like St. Johns? I have a feeling this investment in Interval Int'l was a waste of money....

What timeshare did you deposit into II.? That would make quite a bit of difference in your odds of trading into St Johns.

What resort in St John's are you looking to trade into? Resorts on St John's are very limited. The Westin, and the Marriott both have preference periods, and almost never make it through those times frames. Although, there's a chance you could grab a Marriott, last minute, if they drop the preference. If you own in one of those companies, your chances improve. Placing a request, 12 + months out with II, is your best bet. Still, it's probably one of the most difficult trades out there.

There are one or two other timeshares on St. Johns, that trade through II. Your best bet is to put in a request a far in advance as possible. Give II three weeks that you would be willing to travel, and be willing to take any resort on St Johns, if one becomes available.

I would definitely have a few back-up locations. The odds of St Johns are not impossible, but not good.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

If you mean St. John U.S.V.I., that's a very difficult one to get.

There is St. John, USVI and St. John's. Confusing.

It all depends on what you're depositing, that is, it would require a very strong trader to pull that unless you're just plain lucky.

I bought there once (just a studio) as it was such an impossible trade. I ended up making a wedding gift of it for my niece. Maybe if I'm nice to her, she'll let me use it.

It is a special island and I can see why you'd like to go there, but you might want to consider a second or third choice. Maybe not as nice, or what you want, but you may just be surprised. I fell in love with St. Bart's. No timeshares there, but I have the name of a great, inexpensive hotel.

From what I hear from asking around II - they get less then 15 deposits a year on St John - the only II timeshare there is the Westin St John and there is a Sheraton/Westin/Starwood preference in effect.....I do know someone who traded in during flex-chamge...but it is VERY unusual....

That said - if u have a have a 5 star II timeshare - you could try for an exchange into the new Marriott on St Thomas - beautiful resort in a beautiful location and just a ferry ride away from St Johns.
If you have a 'regular TS' Bluebeard's Beach Club (NOT Castle) is right down the beach from the Marriott and is a wonderful location with clean, spacious studios and studio lofts (both sleep 4) on a gorgeous beach.

Yes, we too have been to St. Barths...it was a dream come true. We rented a Villa and had the time of our life.

We have put requests in thru 2009, but and in our book, the Westin is the only choice for II. Sounds like it will be a long shot.

          Thanks for your input!

            Angela,

We have requests in thru 2009, and yes, I have heard that if you book at least two years out that our chances will be better. Perhaps we will have to just consider using the timeshare for Banff, Canada, and other national parks in the states. Geez, I just want to be able to use this thing and save some money!! Our time share is at Cibola Vista here in Arizona...gorgeous resort!

I've been to Bluebeards Beach Club on St Thomas multiple times through II, I like it a lot, not posh, but nice!
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

They fly the Stars and Bars (just kidding), basically a quiet little resort with its own private beach and beachside pool with bar. Very relaxing environment.

Here is the interior of the studio with seperate sleeping and living areas

Here is the beach and exterior

View from the office toward the beach and units....with the Marriott Frenchmens Reef in the background

Location is everything and isn't this also a fixed unit and fixed time so you don't have to compete for it? The unit sits there waiting for you year after year.

I appreciate this so much more than any fancy resort where people are fighting for lounge chairs around the pool or for desirable weeks and prime ocean views too.

You picked up an ideal timeshare unit for use and for enjoyment, Pat.

The affordable little cottage-like hotel on St. Bart's/St. Barth's is:

→ HOTEL SALINES GARDEN COTTAGES ST BARTHS - OFFICIAL WEB SITE HOTEL VILLA ST BARTHELEMY

Basic, funky and cheap for St. Barthelemy.

Getting there can be a scream, literally.

I purchased resale from a fixed week owner...but there are also float week owners and now that Fairfield/Wyndham is involved - also points owners.....my advice would be to only purchase a fixed week if you want to go in prime (weeks 51-52, 1-14) time each year - or trade in like Spence
