I had a question on the following eBay auction

Item: 84,000 CLUB SUNTERRA SUN OPTION ANNUAL POINTS TIMESHARE (290138094311)
This message was sent while the listing was active.
    ... is a potential buyer.

With the spectre of unused points, I'd offer $13k + MFs + CC.

He was charging for most of the 2007 MF and at this late date there's little chance to use them all.

You got an amazing $10K for 17,500!
I called him on his lie in his previous communication.

As you can see he didn't even read my prior communication with the item number, so I sent it again.

I have bought many timeshares from Thomas and Doug. He has yet to answer my last question, I've been waiting days.
... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

    I really enjoyed that dialogue.

I have purchased from the Ochoas as well. My recent inquiry regarding the corresponding week with an RCI points package was met with a very flippant if you'd read the ad kind of response. I reread that ad so many times and still didn't find it. Good for me though, as it was in fact a very coveted summer week, worth more as a rental than the RCI points. So I bought it as the only bidder.

    P.S. We miss you OY.

Thanks for sharing that dialog. Amazing that you would be blocked from bidding.....I don't get it.

I lost him when he disclosed the reserve amount. If I was the seller, and I wanted you to know, I would have published it in the ad.

Not that's any strange story- I like the auctions where they tell you can ask what the hidden reserve is. Most of these Ebay clowns know less about what they sell than the people asking questions. I'm also convinced they use a specific closing company because they get a kick-back.

I've only had one experience with Thomas Ochoa, and it was not a positive one. I reported on it OY: in a nutshell, he's careless about the information he puts in his Ebay listings, and more importantly, not interested in fixing the errors when they are brought to his attention. I did my due diligence for some timeshare points he had listed on Ebay, and discovered a fairly substantial error in his listing. When I brought it to his attention, he told me point-blank that he was not going to make the correction in his listing, because he didn't think it was important, and that nobody would care. And his tone with me over the telephone was pretty arrogant. The error had to do with whether the timeshare points expired or were in perpetuity, something that I thought was pretty important for a potential purchaser to know. Anyway, while I won't say you shouldn't do business with him, I would definitely check and double-check any information he provides.

So bottom-line, while I'm disappointed in the tone of his brother Doug's dialogue with you, I guess I'm not surprised. Seems to me that the two clearly share more than just sibling genes.

Maybe you were blocked just because his apparent "cockyness" was extinguished by your responses.

In any event, it was great reading this dialogue and all of those that share the games played behind these sellers.

So after you told him his price was to high and proceeded to prove to him that you had gotten a deal for approx 5x less and proceeded to give him grief, not only are you bidding on it but are surprised that he decided to block you.

You have just completely lost me on this one.

                  Spence,

Good one. Thomas blocked you because you pissed him off. Plain and simple. He decided that it was worth more to prevent YOU from getting a good deal than for him to make money. You proved him wrong and most people don't like that feeling. Some take action on those feelings, others don't.

Looks like you've taught them another way to buy low and sell high. Maybe they are moving their points at a price point higher than what you've been paying. Just because he prove it to you doesn't mean there aren't people less informed than you are and that acually pay that much, thinking they've got a bargain. After all, someone's buying at developer prices or else there wouldn't be a secondary market to begin with.

I've seen this happen before but in a different setting. Way back when I was in sales, sometimes we'd find a loop hole in our contract and exploit it. When regional managers came around to "teach" us how to use our contract there was always at least ONE person who had to show how smart they were and blab about the loop hole we were exploiting. Never failed that the loop hole would be closed in short order once the RM went back to the home office.

Sometimes it's best just to know you're smarter than the other guy and keep your mouth shut. At best you've been blocked from bidding on their items. At worst you've taught them how to steal the bargains you've been picking up.

                      Ochoa group

Just say no to the Ochoa brothers!!! I unfortunatly had to deal with this group also. In my opinion they are smarmy and dishonest. They try to double charge and are very unprofessional. Stay away from these guys.

I don't know the brothers Ochoa from Adam's cat. Nonetheless, my curiousity is piqued.
What exactly does one do to get described as "smarmy"?

                          HATE these guys

I don't often get all the way to hate, but I am there today. I know this is an old thread, but it comes up on page 1 of Google results for this seller, and I want this info where others can see it.

My contact with dochoa77 was as a potential buyer, asking a question on eBay, and he was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Here is the transcript:
                          --------------------------------------------------------------------
Me: Hi! Would your seller be willing to split the transfer & closing fees?
dochoa77: No, I am sorry this is cheap enough.
Me: It is cheap that's true, it's just not competitive given the large volume
of auctions with no closing costs at all. I WAS an interested buyer who
might have considered paying the fees if you were not so rude in your
response. Something to consider for the future.
dochoa77: Thanks Dad!!! Go harass another company that is not interested in making money!! Your offer was insulting, talk about rude?
                          --------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe I was hasty in calling him rude, maybe a better word would have been "flip" but his response to that showed me I was right the first time.

Pardon me but I was under the impression that these sellers were merely middle men...so how would asking his seller if they would be willing to split the fees take anything out of his pocket? I'm not saying he had to agree, but to say that it was insulting is immature and unprofessional.

So, point is, there are plenty of other timeshare sellers on eBay that will treat you with a little more respect. Don't bother with this guy.

I didn't really think his original responce that the sale was, in his opinion at least, cheap enough, was rude. He was just stating his opinion. Your's, of course, we different. Personally, I don't believe his responce warrented the responce you gave. If it were me, I'd just have moved onto the next potential purchase opportunity.

Doug - you're right I think, I should have left him alone.

Do you have any thoughts on my query, about the actual seller vs. the eBay seller having to pay the fees? I do want to buy and would like to make sure I understand the situation properly. Or does it vary from case to case?

                              Thanks.
