Just one more reason to own where you like to vacation. If the exchange systems become so corrupt as to be unusable then you cn use your own week and tell them to buzz off.

I have only one week that's an RCI week. We bought it strictly to use and not exchange. At this point in time RCI will never see this week nor will I allow them to have it for their rental pool. It would be nice if developers would abandon RCI and if a majority of owners would withold their weeks from RCI to dry up their rental inventory pool. Without product, product they don't own by the way, they have no business model to work with. All their inventory comes from either owner depositors or greedy developers wanting renters in that they feel they can take a shot at selling.

Either way both RCI and developer are bitting the very hand the feeds them. RCI by ticking off the very people they're stealing inventory from (members/owners) and developers by teaching prospects that it's easier and cheaper to rent if they're giving RCI developer inventory to work with.

Presently we use I.I. and have had good luck with them. I still get the exchanges I want despite the fact that they are use the "evil" and deseptive weeks system rather than points system. If/when they get to the point that RCI is at then I'll look to the other exchange companies out there. If I ever decide that I need/want to exchange the one resort we have tied to RCI then I'll give it to one of the independants out there rather than RCI.

Really though, the easiest way to bring RCI down will be if/when the majority of owners quits giving them inventory to rent. No product, no rentals, no income. Only then will balance be restored.

Exactly. How much longer do they think that they can they keep the public ignorant, who are going to these timeshare presentations?

They must realize that, sooner or later, everyone will find out that renting is cheaper plus much more flexible except for prime time. Then it will pay off to own.

To what extent does II rent?

Do they have the same "we can do whatever we want with your week" in their T&C?

I suspect they do the same thing, on a smaller scale, and way less in your face.

I'm with Boca - ravage the system the best you can!

See, there is "rental" in the name. I guess the RCI higher up knew what he was taking about.

I really can't say but, I'm a weeks owner in I.I. and so far I'm still seeing good availability for my exchange requests, getting the exchanges I'm asking for and enjoying my membership.

IMO, there are far to many ways to abuse points and rip off owners. Sure you have flexibilty and can use you points to to pay for other services but, the cost per point makes it to expensive to own just to spend points on airfare, cruises or rental cars. They get your week on the cheap and then turn around and sell if for a nice profit. Of course it's the public/members that literally allow it to happen. If people don't give RCI their weeks then RCI doesn't have inventory to rent.

But again I'm back to owning where you'd be happy to vacation. People would only have to use their weeks for a couple of years rather than give them to RCI to bring this to a hault. For that matter, if everyone quit paying their membership fee's RCI would lose that income as well.

Unfortunately, these forums reach far to small of a crowd to accomplish anything of meaningful value. What might work is if independant companies like SFX, DAE and Redweek make headway into the exchange market and start stealing business from RCI. But, my bet is like so many other things, RCI will just buy up the smaller outfits, make those owners rich and dry up the indenpendant market.

So basically, my bet is we're all SOL as far as RCI goes.

[QUOTE=BocaBum99;162826]RCI Sucks! We all know it. Am I still an apologist?

My only question is how can I capitalize on this situation? I am a member of RCI myself. Resort Capitalist Insurgence.

RCI still works for me. But, others are working a lot better.[/

              Really?
