Christine Karpinski, author of How to Rent Vacation Properties by Owner and Profit From Your Vacation Home Dream, will be holding a series of seminars in the northeast this fall sponsored by HomeAway.com*.

    Saturday, September 29th: Burlington, VT
    Sunday, September 30th: Boston, MA
    Tuesday, October 2nd: Philadelphia, PA
    Thursday, October 4th: Washington, DC

For current owners of vacation rental homes, this class will give you all of the information you'll need to effectively make money from your investment without the use of a property manager. Renting by owner is the ONLY way to achieve positive cash flow on your vacation property. Learn all aspects of renting out your vacation home “by owner,” even from a distance. Christine shares tips on how to increase profits and reduce hassle, including how to:
    • Advertise your property on the Internet
    • Organize your bookings, payments and accounting
    • Screen guests to avoid problem renters
    • Handle reservations, rental contracts, payment methods and schedules
    • Set up and file sales tax accounts
    • Structure your pricing and when to increase your rates
    • Write great ads that will draw in renters
    • Manage property maintenance
    • Handle keys
    • Furnish your property
    • Network with other owners

Spence, you could give that seminar! I wonder what she could teach you that you don't already know? Maybe you can give her a hand.

Spence....Thanks for the info. Washington is too far for me. But, I might try to make it to the one in Phili. Looks interesting.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Yes you did. And, you and Frank were very generous, and gracious, and picked up the tab......Thank you!!

The funny thing is that I may actually be in the area around that time. I'll be working on, and off in Annapolis, starting the end of the month. Only problem is that I don't have a schedule.

I went ahead and ordered two of her books so I can be prepared. I'll get them signed and add them to my signed collection (Timeshare for Dummies; Confessions of a TS Salesman).
