  • Superior Shores

Well I just couldn't wait. I bought a unit in orlando a couple months ago, but can't use it until next summer. So I went ahead and booked 5 nights at Superior Shores in Two Harbors, MN for Oct 21.

I am excited. This will be my first timeshare vacation. I have a unit right on lake superior. It is only a studio, but I am just one person, so it's fine. The unit has a full-kitchen, a fireplace, a two-person whirlpool, and a private deck with a grill. Oh and it has basic cable and free wireless internet.

I can't wait. So anyway, I couldn't find any reviews on this resort. Anyone know anything?

Also, the resort is a few hour drive from Thunder Bay. I definately plan on making a day trip. Any advice on what to do/see? I've never been there but I hear it's beautiful.

I have never been to this resort but have driven by many times. Resort looks wonderful. Views of Lake Superior could be great! This area is beautiful, I am a little concerned what weather will be like. I believe you may be a little past peak leaf season. If the weather cooperates there is wonderful hiking in the area

You are not far out of Duluth, MN. As you go up the North Shore there are lots of state parks all of them are great! Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock, Tetteguchie and Cascade, and more. Views of Split Rock are wonderful! Lots of waterfalls and shoreline of Lake Superior at any of these parks.

Grand Marais is a nice town, on the way to Thunder Bay. When we were in Thunder Bay took the kids to the Fort and also hiked to a waterfall. Certainly enjoyed it, not sure off season what will be open. Saw a moose on the drive back.

Beautiful area with lots to do, may be cold.

I have never stayed there. My son just told me he is staying there this weekend. I will let you know what he thinks. There are a few favorable reviews on TUG.

If you want to get information about Duluth or Superior, check out Visit Duluth: Duluth's only offical tourism resource for lodging, dining, attractions, events and more! Superior-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce They both have suggestions on things to see and some photos of the area.

Canal Park in Duluth would be a good place to visit to see the lake view. You might even see an ore boat entering or leaving the harbor. If you are interested in World War II history, you might enjoy the Richard I. Bong Heritage Center in Superior. It is just across the bridge from Duluth.

I have not been to Thunder Bay in quite a few years. It rained the last time we were there and I wasn't really impressed. Things could be different by now.

Make sure when you come to the area that you bring warm clothing and watch out for deer on the roads. The deer are quite thick in this area.

One more site you could check out is Duluth Shipping News, City of Duluth, Minnesota Click the top of the page for the store. It will say "Click here to buy photos, notecards" There are lots of pictures of boats and scenery found around Duluth.
