  • The Lion King

I am booked at Superior Shores in Minnesota for the week of October 21. It just so happens that the Broadway production of The Lion King is traveling through Minneapolis that same week. My good fortune! I booked my tickets today.

I haven't seen it yet. Have any of you seen it? What did you think (don't worry, I've seen the movie, so you won't spoil the ending for me )

We saw what I would guess to be a shortened version (maybe not) at Disney's Animal Kingdom last year. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It's hard to compare this to the animated movie.

I saw "The Lion King of Mali" done by a local production company. I assume it's the same show. I'm not a big ballet fan (DW is) but Lion King was fantastic. A lot more modern than classical ballet. Enjoy.

It's great. Saw it in Boston three years ago. It was the Disney Version and not a ballet.

We were at Disneyland a while back when Lion King was at the Pantages theater in LA. My wife wanted to go since it was a play. I said we'd seen the movie so what's the fuss (and price tag!) for a remake. Well, we did go and I had a great time. This is much better than the movie!

My mom took her whole family (kids and grandkids less us and the 2 youngest grandkids) the next year. Now that her youngest grandkids are old enough to enjoy it I think I'll look for a matinee (just to be sure the 2 kids stay awake) someplace where we can take them and my mom and us to see it again.

Lion King the play is very entertaining and very well done. And fun for all ages.

BigPapa, you'll have a great time.

I must be the only person on the planet that didn't fall in love with "The Lion King". We saw it on Broadway a couple of years ago. I agree the staging and costuming was incredible and I'm glad we went. But, the music (with maybe a couple of exceptions) was the same as the movie. Steve said that he felt he'd watched the movie with the girls soooooooo many times he could have sung along. We actually enjoyed "Fiddler on the Roof" with Alfred Molina more (and yes, I'd seen the movie version of that as well).

I saw the Lion King twice in NYC and absolutely loved it. My DH was not impressed, however. When I took my grandchildren (the second time) we could only get a seat in the back orchestra. I put my GD on a cushioned aisle seat, and she thought she was in heaven when the animals entered from the back and walked along side her. From that time, she has expressed a desire to be on stage! How could you not just fall in love with the show after that!
