  • Information on TS sales people

First time posting here - So I hope this is the right place. I am researching a possible new vocation. I think the target market could be those that like the idea of owning a time share, but don't like the costs involved.

I have tried reaching some of the sales people at a few locations to see what they do with the people that turn them down. It is hard to believe, but it is hard tracking these sales managers down. One would think they would make themselves available.

I am new to trying to understand TS and how they are marketed, so any help or insight anyone has would be great.

Before someone asks - I am not here to sell anything. In fact, I have not even taken the job as yet - just checking things out to see if there is any potential etc.

If any of you has a relationship with your salesperson - I'd like to speak with someone and pick their brain etc.

    Thanks

    Bob

Most of the people on this website suggest to anyone looking to buy a TS, to buy the TS on the resale market. Therefore we are not well liked by TS salemen.

In fact, most comments about TS salemen are like this " if the salesman's lips are moving they are tell you a lie".

Anyone care to add to this list?

Thanks Bill, I have been in the mortgage business for the last 12 years and I could easily say the same thing about loan officers. I think used car salesmen, loan officers, and TS people all go to the same college to get trained.

I guess what I am looking for is a way to speak to the sales mgt of these fine upstanding people in the sales arena. Ultimately to get referrals from those that have attended their pitch but did not bite.

        Thanks

I am not looking under the right rocks - does anyone know how to reach these folks? Initially I just want to ask some questions to see if my thinking is off or not on a potential market - and if it is possible to work with them so everyone wins - maybe I have a way of at least getting some of the money they give away back for them.

          .
          ............

Well I can see now that loan officers have all the qualifications it takes to become a TS salesperson. So now that the mortgage industry is slow - at least the loan officers will still be employed.

You have to have zero feelings for your clients.
You are to sell them anything weather it fits their needs or not.
Get the most money out of them.
            Promse them everything.
And on top of it all, learn what the truth is and do the opposite

If you go to one of the cities with several timeshares, you can go to the presentations or skip the ruse and just go to the sales building itself. Typically they do not want me to have their business cards so I have no actual contact info for any of them.

“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Ok - now I am starting to understand why they keep such a low profile - Do you think it will take showing up in person?

I will continue to try via phone to reach some - but it appears most are trying to avoid the phone i.e. irate customers.

Any more ideas on how to get in touch with some - any city is OK?

I would work for a re-sale broker and you are not ripping "ignorant" people off. There are a few out there. When people go to a timeshare presentation, they have no idea that there is a re-sale market for timeshares where they can buy the same timeshare for pennies on the dollar. No salesman or sales manager will mention this to them at the presentation but people are wising up because of forums like this.

Every one knows that, when you buy a new car, it has lost half it's value when you drive away but people expect real estate to go up in value and they believe that a timeshare is "real estate" too but it doesn't behave like real estate.

I hope it is not financing a timeshare because that makes it even more expensive yet. JMHO.

Look like someone is asking him to work for a vacation club type of deal, so he is doing some research.

If that is the case, it will be interesting to see what is the actual conversion going on. And what kind of business info. he can actually get from sales.

                            Iconnect,

Thanks - Actually I am thinking that the market for what I may be marketing is better for people that want a timeshare type benefit - those that already have a time share --- don't know actually if that is a valid potential market etc. That is why I am doing my research - diligence before I dive into it.

My main question right now is having to deal with this slimy slick bunch. I am just getting out of the mortgage business and I have had 12 years of dealing with bottom feeding loan officers - I am not looking forward to working with TS people unless there is another way. Again - just checking out demographics and market potential etc.

                            Bob

How do you edit your profile so that your name or whatever auto prints at the bottom - I went there but was not sharp enough to find out how to do that.

A vacation club that Jya-Ning mentioned may be a cheaper alternative than buying a timeshare but why not buy re-sale and own the deed? You may have a better idea yet and are trying to do this industry a favor so it will be interesting to read what your plans are.
