Internet Rental Site Scam: WCBS TV NYC

Last nite, WCBS reported many, many people showing up at a NYC address where they were to stay for a pre-paid week @ approx $1200...which they already paid. (There were no such places)

I stopped telling people to try to use the Internet Websites for rentals. I don't think there are enough controls to protect any side of the 'bargain'. I now advise them to use a travel agent ( even II, RCI, TPI, DAE & so on) are also licensed travel agents....or a licensed realtor to be found by search REALTOR.com - Real Estate Listings & Homes For Sale and putting in a zip, then seeing those advertisig rental units.

Your title insinuates that the site is perpetrating the scam. The site looks like any other one that charges ~$125 a year for an ad. I don't believe the site has/had anything to do with the scam. That's like blaming USPS for delivering the PCC postcards.

It was the individual advertiser.
