  • Need general advice on selling timeshare

    Hi All!
Happy Holidays. Thanks to those who have responded to me with advice.
My husband and I are looking to sell our week (Removed name of resort) We did try Ebay but no luck. (Removed details deemed as advertisement) We paid 16,500 back in 2003 and am told they are now selling for over 20,000. We have been contacted by several pay up front companies and are very leary of spending money on this type of service. Seems like a scam to us. We have asked the companies to show us proof (like a realtor would) of the listings they have sold in the past 60-90 days and get alot of fast talking mumbo jumbo. (removed details that is deemed an advertisement)

    Thanks again.

Kathleen, the bad news is you have one of the worst weeks to sell in Orlando (one of the worst places to own) at one of the worst resort groups. The good news is that it's a good size unit and floating (week I hope). Hopefully it is also paid in full. If someone offers you $ 3,000- take it quick. If someone calls you and tells you they can get you 6k or more, they are scam artists.

I would have to agree that despite what you paid for it, you must drastically lower your expectations. I would not pay $3000 for it, but then again you couldn't pay me to buy in Orlando... someone will buy it, but at the right price.

Check the completed auctions on ebay to see what the real world current market prices are.

You have my condolances for being a "wastegate" owner and for owning a week 40 there to boot.

            But good luck to you.

It will take a while but there is someone out there that could use your t/s.
Check back here before you take an offer and get the correct advice. There are lots of scammers out there that only want your money. More pop up everyday and they are clever. I agree that you will have to settle for less than your current price.

Thanks everyone for the input. I decided to list my timeshare with redweek and TUG and I listed it for a more reasonable $5,000. and we'll see what happens from there.
It is an annual week 40 floating value season which means you can go week 40 or choose another week in value season. We have had no issues with Westgate. We also were able to visit other Westgate Resorts such as Smokey Mtns. Really loved going but our financial situation has changed and we are forced to sell.

I hope I find someone who enjoys Disney as much as we did!

                Wish me luck.

                GO PATRIOTS!

                    Kathleen,

I think you have it priced too high, but I also understand it will take time for you to be willing to come down. Just please be wary of some of the responses you get to your ads, you will likely get a lot of interest from "brokers" looking for $. I know you already know not to give anyone money up front, but please be careful.

Also, fyi, prices for timeshares this time of year tend to be a bit lower, there is more inventory as people try to get out from under their looming January MF payments...

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.
