My father in law owns 3 timeshares. He has asked me to help him sell because his health is not so good. He no longer travels and has been paying the fees without getting any use of the timeshares. I have spent several hours looking through the forum and still cant figure out best way to sell. I have full time job with kids and dont have alot of time to researh all this information. Does anyong have the cliff notes on selling. His timeshares are Parkway International Resort- Orlando, ARI Holiday Newwork- Austria, and Wyndham Cypress Palms- Kissammee. Thanks in advance for the help.

Looks like the forum recommend using ebay and lining up some closing companies. If I don't get any hits on ebay does anyone have any reputable charites that will accept the donation.

Not the best timeshare portfolio. Could be a hard sell on all of them and not a great deal of value. Try an ad here (classifieds) or on TUG or Redweek after you get an idea what the market value is. We can help you with values for Orlando, but the Austrian one could be a problem. You need to tell us unit size and week (if fixed-season if floating) for each.

Know nothing about other 2 resorts but for FF Cypress Palm, you definitely can get it sold in eBay. The result may not be what you expected though.

The Parkway week should be worth $ 3,000 or maybe a bit more- you might try asking for $ 4,500. Our FF people should have an idea on Cypress Palms and you might check Ebay history for the Austrian one.
As to when to put anything on EBAY - I would hold off until February as many fees are due around year end prompting a plethera of EBAY listings

Just something to think about...I got started in timesharing because I inherited a timeshare. Never in a million years would I have gotten involved on my own...through the course of finding out what I owned, I've discovered a wonderful hobby.

You might just think about learning to use them yourself.

              Closing Companies

Thanks for the feedback. One more question, do I need to use a closing company located in same state or country as the time share. I live in Chicago and 2 timeshares are located in Florida and one in Austria. Also, do you have any closing companies that you would recommend?

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas

Alan, I would suggest Timeshare Transfer. They have a great reputation and are low in cost. Florida timeshares can pretty much be transferred by anyone-dunno about Austria, but if it's not deeded perhaps a membership transfer may be all that is required.

Thanks to everyone (Tony and all) for the help. This is an awesome place to learn about timesharing- very helpful advice. I was so confused a few days ago, and now I think I have the basics. I still have alot to learn.... I had no clue this is a hobbie to many. Thanks to Frank I will never ever drink out of a hotel glass again.
