  • Online Timeshare Calendar

I was thinking about starting a website where people who have timeshares can login and can create calendars for timeshare properties. Then all timeshare users can log in and book in dates and see what days are available / not available.
I would probably charge a small annual fee for the service. ($40 AUD)

What I want to know is would timeshare owners find this site useful and be willing to pay a small fee for the service?

    You comments will be appreciated.

I am sorry, but with all the different owners of different resorts, and different weeks in different properties, I don't see how you are going to keep the information correct and current. Even if you did, what will it do for anyone?

Not everyone who owns timeshare uses this site. Unless you are contacting the resorts for their booking information, your calendar will never by accurate.

I am not even going to get into the price issue.

In my opinion, I think you should drop the idea.

Although there are a few people who try and buy a property in a "vacationing" location then try to make it a timeshare, these kinds of properties are very, very few. I don't think anyone would find this of value.

        Sorry.

Google and yahoo have online calendars that could be used for this purpose.

Kinda sounds like a mini-exchange company but I don't think the online booking aspect would work, given the many resorts and the rules they have. It would be difficult to get yourself established with all the resorts in order to provide that functionality. Even if you could do so, at what cost to yourself?

If you are instead attempting to be an intermediary for Direct Exchange, it could work, but, why wouldn't I just get in touch with the person I wanted to swap with?

The other problem is that it could be a lot of work for very little inventory. Many timeshare veterans are very specific in which resorts they would or would not stay in. The skepticism alone would create a serious lag time in which to become known and trusted.

If you're really looking to provide a service to timeshare users, just keep on thinking outside the box. People here will always give an honest opinion.

IMO your looking for a way to make a buck, This site is free and if people want to donate to keep it running then they give what ever they like, if not myself and Ken eat the cost. We do it because this is what we enjoy doing. If you were to start the same way making it free to use with a voluntary donation then that may work to get people over there. If you think people are going to fork over money right from the get go, you are in for a rude awaking.
