  • Bye-bye five star

Don't know how I could have missed it, but 5* is no more at II. Now we have Premier and Select.

Yeah, it's probably for the better. There seems to be much disagreement with what resorts should qualify as 5*. Don't know that Premier, or Select, will be any different.

Are u seeing the designation online now???

At the recent Marriott Presentation we attended in STT, the sales person stated all Marriotts would retain the highest rating.
Will be interesting to see where my other resorts 'end up'

Premier is best. The new designation will appear on the website when they get around to it. My latest directory (2008-2009) has no designations at all.

Select is going to be distinguished by the "Pineapple" symbol, and Premier will have the "Laural" symbol.

Select = Great vacation experience, and are distinguished with comfortable, and homelike atmosphere.

Premiere = Highest level of recognition, providing an outstanding vacation, with state-of-the-art conveniences, and modern features, and appointments.

When I spoke to an II rep yesterday, she used 5* in describing a resort...so the news hasn't gotten to her yet.

Seems like many of their reps have a strange learning curve, but I'm not surprised in that II has been very subtle about it. I'm not even sure what I was looking at that prompted me to notice it.

Only about a month and a half late but better late than never. I'm relatively certain the ratings don't have a lot of merit but at least it's a little something more than 5 star or nothing.

Now to tip toe through the resorts I've been to and decide if this is really all that and a bag of chips too.

Opps, I guess they still haven't gotten around to it based on some of the other posts. I had checked a couple of nights ago and it wasn't there.

I'm not crazy about the Pineapple but at least they didn't go with a Lemon.

As far as I can tell they haven't gone with anything yet.

I was looking through their book and they don't have any rankings at all. I don't recall if the book was always like that.
