Where is my friend now? About a year ago, I booked an exchange week into The Manhattan Club for this April 19th and fully intended to use it. Six months ago, an event came up where I couldn’t make that booking. But, no problem, two separate friends from work stated that they would use it. Long story, neither one can now use it. What are my options? The exchanged week that I used will expire in April.

You need to find another 'friend' to take the week for you - purchase a guest certificate and there you go - many schools in the NY area are on vacation that week so someone might be able to use it.

Did you buy cancellation insurance for the exchange (I am assuming you booked it through RCI)? If yes, you can cancel the exchange, then pay RCI to extend your initial deposit. You will be out a portion of the exchange fee (not the entire thing if it's more than 60 days from checkin date) and the fee to extend the week (not sure about the cost there, but I seem to recall it depends on how long you exted for), but will get a $49 credit toward another exchange.

If not, I'm sure you can find someone here who would love to take it off your hands and reimburse your exchange fee and guest certificate fee, both of which are allowed by RCI.

I don't think this forum has any restrictions as to sharing the days of your reservation. Since you are not offering the week to the public you are not breaking any rules either.

I'm sure you're not the only one thinking the same way, like, what's the problem here? It's the Manhattan Club, it's available and that fact has been posted on the Internet.
