  • How did you make yourself STOP buying new TS?

I am looking to help our friends buy. I keep finding all kinds of bargains, even just negotiated Stromann down from $6950 to $950 on a good one...I am dying because it is killing me not to pick up another one, or two, or...

So, although realistically we can't use more weeks, I still want more...how did you STOP?

All I have to do is remember all the lies from my only purchase.Remember the thousands upon thousands of dollars that I poured down an ever increasing maintrnance fee and SA black hole. Remember the slim amount I got for it when I finally sold the thing for a fraction of my investment. It is very easy for me not to buy any more.

I own 6 and still look for them. If a good one comes along, I may still buy it and say "I'll get rid of ......"

      Like that will ever happen!!!

Seriously, it is very easy to keep buying..you have to know how many you could afford, or how many weeks you can vacation. Some people have greater than 10 and rent them out.
You have to know your limit..

I am in that situation now. Too many timeshares and not enough time to use them. Too many bargains that I could not pass up.

I add up all the maintenance fees for my "timeshare portfolio", and that usually curbs my enthusiasm

Me, too! They're like potato chips! I know I should stop, but I can't!

Won't power. I'm, down from 9 weeks to 2 weeks and may soon go to 1 week. When I see something I want- I talk myself out of it Things like: I'll wait for a better week, better price, better unit, still have banked weeks to use, too much for settlement fees, too high a MF, can't use it this year, etc.

Yes, there are bargains out there, and if it is a week that you will actually use regularly, there might be a case to pick it up.

But, if not don’t pick it up just to trade or use sometimes.

Look around you can rent additional weeks months in advance for the not much more than the cost of the MF and last minute for a just few hundred dollars. Owning more than you will always use each year does not make sense at any price.

A common problem. All in moderation they say, no one needs too much of a good thing. When I am tempted, I look at an outline of our current vacation plans and still there are extra points that haven't been used and I am reminded that we don't need anymore. It's never easy to say "no" though. My DH helps with this part.

My moderate switch broke a while ago. I always have to have WAY too much of anything good.

You mean Moderators don't have a working switch? Explains a lot, actually...

If this particular moderator doesn't get on a plane to somewhere warm soon she will be a SM no longer.
