Day one.
We left Minneapolis and arrived at St Augustine. We had a 65 degree difference. Guy at the desk said it never got that warm. Well, we started at –1 degree, so getting a 65 degree increase wasn’t that hard.
Day one was arrive and crash. Starting at 4AM made for a long day and DW and I were both too tired to go long. Resort was…wow. Room was good, but the AC unit had an overflow, so we had wet carpet. Area had a big storm night before we arrived, power surge took out some lights. Maintenance had been hopping doing the needed fixing in the resort.
Day two. Started with the owners meeting. Sorry Bluegreen, that will be the last owners meeting. Enough of the ‘I have been on the job one week, how can I help you?’. The guy even asked ‘are you owners?’ It was supposed to be an owners update. I wouldn’t be there if I wasn’t an owner. I learn more here than I do there, so no more of sitting through their pitches. They don’t even know what is on the Bluegreen website.
Later in the day, we went to the Seafood Festival. Wow, was that amazing. Lots and lots of food, all types of seafood, crayfish, fish, shrimp, rice, and on. We ate things we never have eaten before, but still didn’t get to eat gator. Soon. That finished Day two, we were tired. A little wine, a little TV and call it a night. East Coast time is much different than Central Time, or feels that way. We lost an hour to changing time zones, and an hour to Daylight Saving Time. Two hours lost in two days.
Day Three. Just gets better. We did Castillo de San Marcos Fort. Very cool. Fort has walls still standing. Canons are in place, you would think the military could be in place at any moment. If you are mildly interested in history, this fort (and pretty much all of St. Augustine) is a place to see. After lunch at the villa, we went to the beach. DW is big fan of pelicans. Why…never have figured that out, but she was a happy girl on the fishing pier. Lots of pelicans just sitting on the railing. I was happy, sting rays or other type of small sized rays in the water, breeding season. Fascinating. Found a great beach for kite flying. Will do that on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Lots of pictures have been taken. Hope to post some if I can figure out how when I get back.
