Is there a place on this BBS to submit a review and rating for a resort? Thanks

    Hi Carolyn!

If you click thru the resort database to the individual resort page there is a place for reviews.

I look forward to reading yours.

Here is an example of a review I did for Killington Townhouses:

      http://www.timeshareforums.com/resor...details&l=2336

When you enter your review there will be some extra cells that you will see but after you enter your data you will not see the data you enter... Don't worry the data is saved in the database I am still working to recode things!

I just moved the extra fields over to the working database.... I have a problems as the extra data is NOT being captured in the database yet... I also need to get those extra fields to be pick lists as listed in thiis thread:

          http://www.timeshareforums.com/showthread.php?t=4386

I hate to do this but i am going to turn off the POST A REVIEW option while I get this fixed... I thought I had the data doing to the database and I was wrong...

          Sorry...

          EDIT TO ADD!!!

Also, sorry but when I turn off the ability to post a review it seems to hide the existing reviews as well... I hope to get this code fixed ASAP but I hate to be changing code in while people may be entering data as the results can be rather unexpected!

I will BTT your review as soon as I put it back up live... Sorry Again!

OK, I need to stop working on this as this is not a quick fix...

I still have the reviews area turned off until I can finish the code work but you can get a feal for what I am adding for the reviews here....

            http://www.timeshareforums.com/resorts/reply.php?l=2336

Please DON'T SUBMIT DATA AS THAT IS A LIVE PAGE!!!

I am not crazy about the purple background but it is close enough...

My problem is that while I have places for the data to get entered the data that is entered for those cells in the purple have not been setup to be saved in the database yet...

The handling of that data is just a little complicated for me to do right now...

I welcome feedback on this setup as I try to get it running....

              Here is an update...

I have the code working to allow a resort review to be entered with the custom fields but two of the custom fields we wanted added (Check IN Date and Unit Number... both of which are free text fields) are causing me problems as the data is not getting transfered over to the database...

I will have to fight with this more a later time...

                REVIEWS AREA IS WORKING!!!

OK, the Resort Reviews area is working and now the extra fields are all getting entered into the database! It will take me some time to make it so that these new fields can also be pulled out of the database and shown with the reviews so you will have to trust me that the data is in there!

At this point there is no way for a person to edit their review and add this missing data either... The code that handles these values is rather complicated and I just spent way too much time fighting to get it this far...

                So, anyways enough from me...

The Resorts Database Reviews Area is open for more reviews... Please fill in the new fields accross the top of your review and in the future I will have the page coded to show this data with your review... I need to start doing some of my real work and get some billable hours in or the wife will take away my internet access

Not a major issue, but how will you deal with submitting reviews for independent resorts that aren't in the RCI or II lists or not currently in the database for any reason.

Then we people to add these resorts to the database and then do the review! If the resorts database can not handle the resort (additional fields are needed as an example) then I need to know that so that I can update the code.

I have been holding off on major reworks on the resorts database layout and look as I expected more updates to be needed but so far it looks like the initial design fields have covered our needs...

At some point I do need to find a place to add a page where members that will not enter a resort themselves can at least let us know that they found one we don't have! I am sure there are lots of them that could be added now or in the future so this database will only continue to grow!

Like I keep saying, the database will become the real power behind this website in the future as long as I can develope the skill to make the database work for us like it is supposed to!

Nope, it's not there. I thought it might be a pop up so I enabled pop-ups on this site but that didn't do it either. Any other ideas??
