  • HGVC Question

Does HGVC change point values for existing resorts? I found a points chart online today, and it looked like all the point totals were the same for stays at all resorts for similar size and season. I own Worldmark, and they keep raising the amount of points needed for a stay. I was just curious if HGVC is raising the point totals on new resorts? Thanks for any input. Sean

No, they have never changed point values for existing resorts. If they did, they would have to give the owners of those underlying weeks additional points to coincide with the increased value. Not something that would ever happen, IMO.

With HGVC, you own a week in a particular unit size in a certain season. That week is associated with a certain number of points. That is a significant difference from pure point-based systems where you only own a certain number of points. If the points are not "backed" by the underlying week, you are not guaranteed that what you own will always get you that same week.

That is a different question. On some of the new resorts (the two new ones in Hawaii, for example), they have increased the point values assigned to the different weeks. But other new resorts (Orlando, Carlsbad) have the original point structure. The marketing news from HGVC says the increased point value for certain new resorts is due to increased resort amenities (water park, etc.)
