I have deposited into II a wk and am trying to trade into a dvc property in 2009. My question is how long do I wait for a "match" before I cancell that exchange request and start making other arrangements a Disney? One way or another my family and I are going to Disney World in 2009. i just need to know when to give up on getting an exchange and start making regular reservations.

I recieved a trade into DVC for December 2007 in January 2007 and was thrilled as it was about 10 months 3 weeks before I was going.
Traditionally, DVC had not been deposited into II much before the 10 month mark. 8 months is also not unusual.
The other reality is that the week you are using to exchange is not the most demanded time at your resort althought I will say it is not a bad time, either.
But if I am trading my high demand 2BR week 23 and we both requested the exchange around the same time, I am going to get it before you.
Please try to be patient - but if you can't be, there are plenty of Orlando weeks sitting online right now that u can trade into.
Personally, I would wait until September before I felt I would need to make a back-up plan - but I REALLY think you will get a match into a DVC by then.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.
BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Here is my take, for what it's worth, Go on and get excited! You are going to WDW. Are you staying in a DVC property? Maybe. Are you going to have to accept one of those "lowly" Marriotts? LOL. Maybe. Would that be bad? Not at all.
I do like your time frame. My favorite little sleeper week is that one right after Memorial Day and before summer "officially" starts. Something like 5/30 to 6/6. I think a lot of people try to combine Memorial Day in their plans or wait for the height of summer and it opens up a lot of opportunity for matching success.
Your next move is to get your post count up or make a small contribution to the site so you can see the II exchange opps that are posted everyday. If you see a DVC week in your time frame and haven't matched then you can call II and see if they can match it for you. You can also ask Miss Ang to keep an eye out for you...she's nice like that
Good Luck and be patient. Ha! Some advice coming from a "Stresscadet"

May I but in here? I have been trying to think of topics to get my count up - but I;m just not the type of person to ask just for the sake of asking. Need a bit of value to my questions to earn my points. So, tried contribute on the review board for a New Hampshire resort I recently went to....but was told I did have that privalige yet. How can a newbie contribute? Thanks in advance.
