  • RCI's trailer park resorts

I was just looking at RCI's online directory and noticed something I had not seen before - RCI is affiliating trailer parks or ''camping resorts''. I spotted nine in France and one in Croatia. Maybe there will be designated ''plastic crown''.

I know that Timelinx did something like this once in France with a resort at a chateau in Normandy, where the units were not in the chateau itself but modular units set up on the grounds. Of course, that resort only traded through Timelinx. But at least that was modular units, not camping trailers in a campground.

I had to go looking for the one I knew had trailer accomodations here in the US through RCI.

    Skyline Ranch Resort

Now after reading the increasingly scarey levels of accomodation, like by the end they are raving you have a private bath and bring your own linens, you realize this is a Silver Crown with RCI.

    Plastic Crown. I like it!

        Riverpointe doesn't trade in RCI.

Is Sedona Pines really an RV park? I had never heard that.

The rating for this resort has been stalled. Too much horsing around.

I've read some good things about Riverpointe though. The location is great and the units are modular. TPI manages it I think. I don't think that one is an RV campground either.

Not like the scarey thing I posted at all. Ugh I need bug spray just looking at the picture.

didn't mean to lump those two statements together...I have also heard positive things about Riverpointe - especially the 2BRs which are two modular units.

I just went and looked, and they are modular units. Don't look that bad, but they are small. 400 sq ft 1bdrm, 600 sq ft 2bdrm. There's a pool, and a club house, etc.

California's Napa Valley is a mecca for devotees of fine wines and gourmet cuisine. When I was in Sedona last December DB and I drove through Sedona Pines. They are modular but to me they look like glorified mobile homes. The two bedroom units are connected by a breezeway type affair. Certainly not anything a young family would want to have their young child in the second bedroom that is not actually internally connected to the main unit. DB said "don't ever book us in to this." I think Sedona Pines is GOLD CROWN.

Now looking at Riverpointe, they seem similar; just a different color.

Looking at the picture Lawren posted I think the crown shold be in line with those paper ones that Burger King passes out to kids.

On the linked page (Skyline Ranch's website), this property apparently has three different types of rental accommodations:

Chalet: 2-story building w/fireplace in the photo, dishwasher in the kitchen

Cabin: 1-story building, no fireplace in the photo, no dishwasher listed

RV (as shown in posted photo above): obviously no fireplace, no dishwasher

The RCI page for this resort # 3997 lists fireplaces (all units) and dishwasher (all units) among the condo amenities. So while this resort is mixed-use, it appears that they're not providing exchanges into the RVs or rustic cabins, only the chalets. If the chalets are good, it wouldn't bother me to stay on a mixed-use property. We enjoyed a long autumn weekend in the timeshare condos at Country Hideaway in GA, years ago, which also had a large campground on the other side of the property. The condo was very nice and I'd go back. The recreation amenities were especially family-friendly and plentiful.

Don't know anything about the places mentioned in CA or Croatia or France. It sure makes sense to investigate a resort before accepting an exchange!!!
