  • Berkshires in early November

I'm thinking about visiting the Berkshires in early November. I'll be bringing kids, and November is probably pretty damp and dull up there, so we're looking for the resort with the MOST indoor amenities possible! Indoor pools, movie theaters, arcades, bring 'em on!

I can see Vacation Village in the Berkshires and one of the Wyndhams for my date. They're both in Hancock, MA, which would be a good location for us. Oak 'n' Spruce is a little farther from where we want to be, and we're going to be there next summer anyway, but we could go there if the indoor amenities are better.

    Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks!

Oak-N-Spruce has a movie theater, clubhouse, indoor pool/hot tub, workout facilities and I think a pile of books, movies and games that can be checked out.

Great location if you want to go to the Rockwell museum but that's probably way more fun for adults that children.

Given a choice I'd take Bentley Brook over Vacation Villages since the pool is nicer and you don't have to walk outside to get to everything (at least not from the main building and one of the annexed bldgs; there may be a free standing bldg by now). The 2 bedroom units at VV are larger, though. The amenities are pretty similar, I think.

Oak N Spruce has a great rec room with arcade and snack stand/grill, though. VV has a small arcade, I'm not sure about BB but they are very kidfriendly there, too. If you want to be further north, the amenities at OnS probably aren't worth being so far south.

        Thanks to both of you!

I have a 2br 6/6 on hold at Oak n Spruce right now. I'm liking the movie theater and it's only about 15 minutes farther from Albany (we need to go to Albany during the week) than Hancock. Also, Oak n Spruce will let us bring the dog, which will save a lot of money in boarding fees. I'm going to take another look at the map and have another think about this, though, so please post any other advice you have.

For 15 minutes, I'd take OnS unless you'll be driving back and forth a lot. I like the area better, and it's closer to home. Neither Hancock nor Lee offers much in the way of kids' stuff in the fall, unless you want to mountain bike at Jiminy Peak (Hancock).

Check to see whether the movie schedule is worth it. I am pretty sure BB has one, too, but you should call.

PLEASE tell me Oak N Spruce has 'special' units they give to people bringing pets?????

They are not allowed in with the general population, are they????

Our dog is pretty well-behaved in that regard. And she's a poodle mix, so she doesn't shed, either. And we travel with her crate and put her in it when we're out of the room.

Pat, stooooop, or we'll turn this into one of those huge dogs-in-timeshare debates and everybody will be chiming in!
