  • Vacation Travel Club (VTC)?????

Got a card in the mail from Vacation Travel. They say they are NOT a timeshare or vacation ownership program. For sitting through their presentation we can choose from one of the following:

    Hawaii
8 day/7 night condo stay....in Hawaii and many more locations

    Cruise
4 day cruise for 2 from Los Angeles to Mexico or Florida to the Carribbean

    Airfare & hotel
roundtrip airfare for 2 and 3 days hotel accomodations to Puerto Vallerta, Cancun, Orlando and more

My response when dh showed this to me was "Yeah, sure" (with much sarcasm). But thought I'd check to see if anyone had any experience with them.

    Luanne,
Go for it and when they ask you your occupation, tell them that you work for the Attorney General in their consumer affairs division.
    Really, try it.
    They won't mess with you.

Does this mean you've had experience with them? I don't want to call just to play with them. I wondered how legit the whole thing is.

Don't bother with them. The free travel gifts have so many restrictions that we don't plan to use them. Also, what they offer in terms of vacations are not any better than you can find in bonus weeks in RCI, II, DAE etc.

            Misrepresentation

Anyone misrepresenting themselves as a member of the Attorney General's Office could find themselves in violation of the law.
Just as claiming to be a law enforcement officer is against the law.
Liars are liars because they lie.
Take the high road and don't lower yourself.
Avoid any situation in which compromising your own integrity and creditability is suggested.

Don't worry, I wasn't planning on doing this. I threw the offer out.

You could be vague and say that you work in the consumer protection area.

We received a postcard from VTC yesterday in San Ramon, CA. From other posts I've read,
I believe you pay $3K - $4K to become a "member" of a vacation club that gives you access to "discount" vacations. When you actually try to reserve the lodging, the discounted price is no better than you could have found elsewhere without paying the membership fee.

These threads describe similar programs. Not exact same name, but I think this is the premise.
WorldMark Owners :: View topic - sis in law's travel club membership was a rip off after all
WorldMark Owners :: View topic - Travel to Go ?

                    They're already lieing to you.

They say they're not a timeshare
                    or vacation ownership, but what
else do you call it when all the
                    membership fees, the money down,
(and so on) are just like the
                    timeshare and vacation clubs?

                    They call themselves something different
because some people are emotionaly, if
not physically, (trying to get away from the
                    salesmen) scared from timeshare presentations.

In the past, people have gone through
a lot, and lost a lot of money.
most people think they are restricted
to the week they own, and some
                    just don't understand the trading
power rules (they bought too cheep).

The word "timeshare" has a bad
                    reputation with many people.
                    That's why sertain resorts are
                    calling themsleves "vacation
                    ownerships," and "vacation clubs."

They're just trying to get you in the
door and drill you like the presentations
people have avoided because of the word
                    "timeshare."
