Are you planning on using CA resorts? or? Greg
Have not called the seller from craigslist to ask yet. But that is something because at the sales presentation the lady said all you need is about 1100 pts per day for vacations for a 1 bedroom. She said just buy about 20,000 pts to start with.. just sign here!... of course we did not but it is just something how the facts on this forum are very different from what the presentation lady told us.

What we were told was that once points are bought, we just have to open the magic book and pick out any place we'd like to go and call our special number to set it all up.

On paper it sounds like a really great way to vacation mainly due to having a condo versus a hotel room with no kitchen.

I think you are mixing Worldmark and Wyndham up

Worldmark, about 1300 points will get you most of their older one bedroom units, Wyndham it takes around 22,000 points per day. Even though these two companies now are owned by Wyndham, they aren't the same.

As to opening the book and making a call and going on your dream trip, not in the real world.

Timesharing requires advance planning of at least several months, and for some prime weeks, a full 365 days in advance.

I am going to suggest you spend a few months here and Timeshare Users Group Online Community Forums - Announcements in Forum : Buying, Selling, Renting

before you make any commitment to this thing we love called a timeshare. Greg

Virtually no difference - VIP NT required in anyway

Greg - That simply isn't true! PLEASE don't perpetrate the sales scam that VIP is needed to get good reservations. With one or two very limited times at a specific resort/view (and almost exclusively in Myrtle Beach) making virtually any reservation at any Wyndham Resort at the 8-10 month out mark will get you anything you want.

VIP is not a guaranteed benefit & does not transfer on resale. But there are few VIP members (and less all the time by percentage) so it is NOT them that get the early reservations - it's the home resort owners if it happens (as the rules allow. 13 month priority for owners - 10 month for all non-owners - 12 months for some VIP's)

Again I hate to see a falsehood given credence on an owners based BBS such as TS4M's. Saying you need to pay tens of thousands of dollars (yes, tens of thousands more) for a product that resells for 95% less on the 10th day you own it (after your rescind rights end) is giving very bad and incorrect advice. VIP does virtually nothing to get you early reservations and points discounts and you pay dearly for that non-guaranteed "privilege". Don't even suggest it's needed as a joke.

Wyndham Points is just about that easy but the amount you need is 126,000 to 250,000. The points you are quoting sound more like the Worldmark system which is much smaller, costs a little (very little) more at even resale but doesn't have anywhere near as many internal resorts to use. That is a big difference & Wyndham is IMO the much better value - in fact one of the great values in timeshare now for easy access to multiple resorts (and great ones) but only if you purchase at resale NEVER at retail for either group.

So where did I say they needed to Pay Retail????

The op was asking about the easy of use, and Wyndham being the owner unfriendly group that they are isn't easy to use. They still have the sales weasels words in their minds," open the book and call to make you trip"
which isn't true. If you read my posts you would see that I recommended that they spend some time reviewing here and oy all about timeshares.
I have never recommended to anyone they buy into the retail dream, espesailly not with anything Wyndham.RCI/Cendant has anything to do with
But I have pointed out to many that like in the Animal Farm, some owners are more equal than others.

You didn't say to buy retail but as things stand today if a buyer THINKS they NEED VIP (and they DO NOT!!) the only way to get it is by retail (basically a scam as the value goes down by 95%+ on day 10).

I'm just afraid some newbie might read it to think that to get good reservations they must have VIP. It isn't true and they need to be assured of that as well as know the real reason why a resort/time may on occasion not be readily available. If they understand that it is the owners ARP and NOT VIP use that causes the rare problem (very rare actually) then they also hopefully get that being a so called VIP won't change things. Buying at that resort as the home base would and THAT can thankfully be done via resale.

                  Help with Bluegreen ownership

Due to unplanned changes with family income, we would like to connect with Bluegreen Gold or Platinum owners. We are struggling to stay current on the financial obligations with ownership and would like to offer our 72000 biannual points for an extremely great rate ($750 plus half of closing costs). Any interested owners please sent reply.

Help With Time Share Resale Companies

We have a HGVC Timeshare and would like to sell it. Does anyone know the names of reputable resale companies? We have heard that Bay Tree Solutions is good. We also got a mailing from TimeShareFree. I would appreciate any advice that any of you could give to me. I know that we will take a tremendous loss, but to keep paying $1000 fees every year just makes it worse. We have found it very difficult to use.
Thanks for any help that you can give me!

If you were to post this in "The General Timesharing" forum, you probably get a better response.

Personally, I wouldn't use a resale company. I would list it on a site like "MyResortNetwork.com". They charge a nominal listing fee and you sell it yourself. I used them when I sold one of my timeshares and it went very well. I would NOT list it on eBay as HGVC is too good to list it with the bargain hunters.

                      http://www.myresortnetwork.com/

You should NEVER pay anybody any upfront fee at all to sell your timeshare. They are scams and promise you the moon if you pay them some outrageous upfront fee.

You also may try advertising it on a local bulletin board such as those found in supermarkets, etc.

Generally I would pay attention to the advice for selling as it applies to rentals as well.

Loooking to sell or rent my time share.

                                Hello,

I currently have the same problem.I am Mexican and about 8 years ago my parents bought a time share with interval on a vacation in miami florida, we went through the whole presentation, at the time, we had money and it seemed a good deal. I think my parents have only used it once,it has been completely useless. It has been completely payed , however i think we owe some maintenance fees.
We have been contacted on numerous occasions, and all of them have turned out to be scams, fortunately, no money was sent. Now we are contacted once again by this Royal Vacation Resorts, and frankly i have been checking it ut and it seems a scam.
These ways people have of wanting to take your money, frankly disgust me. They take andvantage of people like my parents who don´t speak english and send confusing documents with attractive offers, knowing, that this economic breakdown we are having in Mexico is generating great need. I want it to stop,i want to take legal actions into hand. How can I? I am thousands of miles away. However, thousand of miles don´t stop lazy wise-ass people from wanting to steal to hard working people. We must understand that this has to stop. We must unite on these times of need to make the global economy better. All this corruption is ultimately going to affect everybody, especially the hardworking man who has nothing to do with it. It is happening in our country now, I know it will happen on your country later
This post is a genenral cry of assistance. If someone has experience with these kinds of situations, any advise will be really grateful.

                                Thank you
