Have you talk to the resort? Maybe they will willing to take it back.

Else the most reliable seller will be yourself. In that case, the most reliable advertise agent will be either free of charge - this site, your parent's timeshare internet group (check if they are there), craigslist, vacationtimesharerentals, bidshare. Than the big named agent eBay. And somewhere in between ad agent that charge very low for a long time.

There are some ok closing company, you can go to tug to check them (How to Sell Your Timeshare (and avoid getting scammed!) - Timeshare Users Group Online Community Forums).

If you really prefer some agent, make sure you don't pay anyone upfront, we have some constant poster that specialist certain resort group, you can check their post and see if you find people mention them, most of them are doing high end group though. If your parent's timeshare has its own forum, they may mention it in there.

The current economic are not very good, so it will take a while maybe 2 to 3 years for good timeshare to get sold. be patient, in the meantime, try to use them to max. what your parent's paid for MF.

Hey darrin, theres no such thing as lagitnamit timeshare resale companies out there especially not ones you can find online anyway. what i found best after hours of reading through timeshareforums.com and other online communities is that agressive online marketing on your end that doesnt cost you any money upfront at all is the only way to get any attention to your timeshare amongst 1000's others that are for sale.

Put a signature in your emails, text messages, forum postings.
free classified listings sites like craigslist, classifiedsforfree.
      Facebook, twiter, myspace and Linkedin

but after all this is just a way to get people to notice you have something for sale, you have to make it inticing by pricing your unit right, unfortunetly that means loosing a few $$ to get out of the mess.

Check with your HOA, maybe they will take it back with next's MF paid.

Check with charities to see if they take TS. Make sure use one that does not charge you to take it out, and don't believe anyone told you you can write your purchase amount as contribution.

Ad to sell yourself on free ad site (craigslist ...)

Ad to sell yourself on low cost ad site (redweek, myresortnetwork ...) expect it maybe 3 to 4 year process

Sell on eBay with $1 plus some incentive (expect you may need to list it few times)

find some agents that charge you a commision after they sold out your timeshare (it still may take a few years to sell)

find some companies that take it from you with you pay them (like few thousand dollars) make sure they are not ask you to sign a trust type of deal that they did not really take it off your hand, make sure you are signed a deed out to them, and don't pay until they give you a signed agreement which you can regist on the local government if necessary.

rent it out, try as cheap as possible until the economic get better than check if someone wants it.

Advice request re World Travelers Advocate Inc

I attended a presentation last night hosted by World Travelers Advocate. Basically their deal is to sell a $6250 one-week timeshare (10,000 points) with a $99 annual fee. This gets you into their system where all your weeks and/or points on your other timeshares can be rented at a price based on the particular timeshare you own.

For example we have over 100,000 unused points from 2010. Their system allows us to place these points in their National Rental Program pool that is purchased in May at a price ranging from $.03 to $.062 per point. Up to 100,000 points can be put into the pool each year. There are two payouts depending on when you put the points into the system, March and September. The idea is you can put enough points into their system to recover your annual maintainance fees.

The per point price varies and was up to $.08 at one point last year.

Worldl Travelers says they can do this do to the recent lawsuit between Wyndom and RCI. Using their service you can obtain a 2-bedroom condo for 9,000 points (using whatever points you do not put into the pool).

To their credit there was no "hard selll" and we left with all their notes to conduct research on the firm and think it over for a day or two.

I would be curious to learn if anyone has worked with this firm and can comment pro or con.

Thanks for any insights you can provide.

                  Universal Vacation Club in Mexico?

Renting any timeshare in Mexico is harder now than it was a few years ago.

The American press has done a hatchet job with the Swine Flu, the drug wars, etc.

Depending upon what you own, make the best reservation you can and advertise the heck out of it( them) on any site that offers free/low cost ads. Craigslist, Tug2, here, etc.

If they can cover the MF plus their operation cost, plus a little more, they will buy TS now, not try to sell you TS.

At this moment, look at eBay, a lot has no bid, so, no, they did not speak truth.

I would suggest you first try your friends/family member. Chances are, from time to time, you may find a package deal (Air/resort) more cheaper than seperate deal. Plus, most of the time, the all-inclusive fee are really high.

Anyone who approach you to tell they can get you x amount, and ask you to pay upfront money are scam, don't waste your time on them.

                          Timeshare being sold on Craigslist

Hello all, My fiancée and I have been researching all the pro's and con's of the timeshare world even going to presentations for the free travel gifts.
It has seemed very clear that if someone were to get into the timeshare biz they would want to buy from the resale world versus new shiny car timeshare world.

We recently came across a craigslist post selling Wyndham Resort Timeshare points for what seems to be a very inexpensive amount and wanted to pick anyone's brain for pointers/warnings etc on this.

                          Thank you all

Wyndham points are being given away

Right now there are several free Wyndham point packages, here and Bargain Deals - Timeshare Users Group Online Community Forums

Wyndham is a large group of developer controlled resorts, that allow you to make reservations using your points.
The problems arise because of the Premier ( VIP ) programs. I am not familiar with all the levels, just know that all of them can book before you can at any resort except your home resort. This makes getting a prime demand week or short stays during prime season next to impossible.
What exactly are you considering? Greg

Thank you Greg for the info.

We saw a craigslist post for "Wyndham Resort timeshare deed based on a 125,000 point system for $500 or best offer." are were curious about it all.

We went to a Wyndham/westmark (i believe) this weekend in Oceanside and now are looking over the resale field for possible good buys but already feel that the biggest issue stated is with annual maintenance fees.

Is maintenance fees the dirty little secret of timeshares?

                              Thank you,

No secret , no free lunches once you buy

$500 for 125K is high in today's market, what resort were they based on? The annual fee is about $5-7 per 1000 points per year, so a 125K which will get you a 1 bedroom medium season will cost about $750 per year to use.
Are you planning on using CA resorts? or? Greg
