I want to sell my timeshare without paying a company to do it. I have heard horror stories of paying companies upfront. PLease give me some advice. I came across an ebook that looked like it had alot of advice. I am not plugging this book as I do not know if it works. Can someone offer insight into helping me resell my timeshare... preferrably from someone who has sold timeshares in the past.

In order to give you reasonable and responsible advice I would need to know a lot more information. Such as where you own and what type unit that you own. Also what price are you realisticaly wanting to sell for and what kind of time frame you are wanting or needing to complete a sale. There are numerous avenues to sell your timeshare but please be advised that effort and being very proactive will be mandatory. If you are willing to do those things you can be successfull. I would love to share some thoughts and experience with you. I have been an owner for over twenty-five years and was in management in the timeshare industry for over twenty years. I want to assure you that I do not or am I affiliated with anyone in the resale of timeshares buisness. I am retired and love timeshare and would love to help other owners with any experience or knowledge that I may posess. So if you would like to talk and exchange ideas you may contact me at Removed email address please use PM BF

I will assume your goal is to get rid of the TS. If you have loan on it, unless it is a few handful resorts, you will have to assume you will need to pay off the loan yourselves first and assume you may not get any money back.
read this first
How to Sell Your Timeshare - Timeshare Users Group Online Community Forums
and
Frequently mentioned resale and rental websites - Timeshare Users Group Online Community Forums
It is free
I will suggest you first use free site. Site like Timeshare Rentals Resales Timeshares for Sale Rent Vacation Time Share are free in some basic listing and they have some basic statistic, and they do attract someone that is not long time TSer businessman. You will get some idea how many people are looking at your ad.
Than, when you think you are ready to spend some money, put in the asking price at the rate that is enough attractive and word that can attract you to at least think take a vacation in your timeshare, but general enough to attract people that can use it for different purpose. Add some pictures, put it in one or 2 low rate listing site. It may run a while, so you want to have site as long as possible with lowest rate.
Set a timeline (like say put it on these site for 9 months), than you will put them on eBay with something like 2 weeks lead time at least, and if you find your resort/week is at low end, you may want to consider offering some help in closing or throw in few freebie. And starting at $1 no reservation. List some good closing companies they can selected, so even though you may never have the selling in eBay, it can guarantee you are not a scammer.
If you can hold on at this moment, you should consider do that. Have you try to rent it out before? So at least you know the potential worth of your TS?

In order to get the best of both worlds all one has to do is list their timeshare on the online forum so that individuals looking to rent or buy a timeshare can browse through them and ask questions. People like to talk directly to the source because that way they know they are getting straightforward answers to their questions.Timeshare resales are a great way to explore other parts of the world while still keeping the same cost effective and convenient platform that timeshare evoke.

I am wondering the same thing and any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I've had my listing on vacationtimesharerentals.com for the last 2 years, and luckily have had success in renting it out those 2 years. But, we are looking to sell and I have no idea where to begin. We're willing to sell for a (big) loss, we just need to SELL!

Obtain a CMA from a respected brokerage..
A good place to start is to obtain a CMA from a respected brokerage. Be sure to ask if the broker deducted his commission (and if so, how much that is!).. Often, if a broker gives you a free CMA- they'll tell you how much to expect to get at closing and not how much it will actually sell for. Be aware that most brokers make a minimum of around $2,000 commission on each sale.
Once you understand pricing- you'll have a better chance at selling- then simply place your ads to try and get as much exposure as possible.
Good luck...my travel website: Vacation-Times.org.

This is assume you willing to take any kind of loss. I will hold off in this kind of situation, if you can rent it out for 2 years, there is no reason you can not continue that.
If you still have loan on it, you will not be able to get that back, you may need to prepare to pay the loan off. Or need to talk to some bankrupcy lawyer.
